I'm going through my archives and found this door charm I reblogged in early 2022 from @ofwoodandbone. However, they deleted their blog and the username has been taken by a spam blog. The original URL of this post has been lost.

I'm reposting it now as I think it's cool.

When you put magical protection around your home, you mustn’t ever forget about the door(s).  Not just your door, but the door that it represents. It is the portal into your space. You need to enchant it and lock it.  Knock on the door thrice. Touch your tongue, then mark the a cross on the door.  Blow on it once.  “They that come to knock on thee,   Flesh or spell or spirit be,   shall face itself ‘for they meet me,   The good shall enter and the ill shall leave.” *It wouldn’t hurt if you wanted to line your doorway with sprinkled pinches of salt, protective herbs, or cascarilla. If you’re going to be locking your door, might as well put an extra bolt or two in.

I never thought I would find this by doing a google search...I think I already have it all written down (and more) and (let me be a little goth) yes, I'm still nostalgic for that era .

I think that ofwoodandbone had some wonderful discussions and insights but I also think that there are people on here that treat their words like the religion they're seeking and it's unhealthy.

The amount of times they've been referred to as st, how people take their posts as pure fact rather than another practitioner sharing their perspective... it's a little disturbing to me. It helps me understand why they left, honestly.

People became so viscous over their posts and argued and attacked and held them on some strange pedestal. I still reblog their things when I see them because generally they're extremely well worded but I find my self digging through the comments to find a version to reblog that is devoid of the strange worship people ascribe to them.

Just my thoughts anyways.

Why is ofwoodandbone so important if all they did was just rewrite information they found in published tradcraft books. As if that’s not what every tradcrafter has been doing on this platform...

I wasn't even there when ofwoodandbone used to post on tumblr. I just think their posts are interesting and inspiring.
