“N-now S-S-Severus, let’s just b-be r-reasonable about this.”
It wasn’t the first time Snape had caught him loitering on the third floor. Quirrell had been lucky so far, and he had always had an excuse at the ready, but this time Severus seemed decidedly not in the mood for another of Quirinus’s lies.
“I th-think there’s b-been a very s-serious misunderstanding. C-can’t we t-talk about this?” He was quaking, and he found himself stumbling over his words even more often than usual. Quirinus had to take a moment to remind himself that he was not afraid of the man currently towering over him. It was an act. It was all just an act.
“You have ent-tirely the wrong idea about me, I swear.”
