Ice Skating
You let out a yelp of surprise and quickly reached your hand out to grip onto Jack’s coat. His laugh echoed around the rink and you shot him a playful glare. “Don’t fall,” Jack said, steadying you so that you wouldn’t fall over. You smiled at him and stopped in track so you could catch your balance.
“I’m trying not to,” you told him, watching your breath puff out in white smoke. It was freezing cold and you were wondering what made Jack choose ice skating as a date option. You two had been dating for three weeks now and he wanted you to join in on some party his friend was having. You were very nervous at meeting his friends for the first time at such a big event. Jack wasn’t easing you into just a few. No, you were meeting at least all of his friends in one night. “Let’s stop for a moment,” you huffed, wanting to give up on ice skating.
“I thought you said you could ice skate?” he chuckled, leading your over to a corner of the rink so that the two of you weren’t in the way of everyone else. You went quiet at his words and one of your eyes squinted as you avoided his stare. This silence made a light bulb go off over Jack’s head. “You can’t ice skate!?!” he exclaimed in shock, “Why didn’t you tell me?”
“Y-You sounded so happy about this party and wanting me to meet your friends that I didn’t want to tell you I don’t know how to ice skate,” you admitted. You covered your face in fear of what his reaction might be. Jack skated closer to you and pulled your hands away from your face.
“You didn’t have to do that,” he whispered, giving you a small smile. It was sweet that you were trying to do something for him. In fact it made Jack more attracted to you than anything.
“I just wanted to impress your friends,” you mumbled in a pout. Jack shook his head and tugged at your glove covered fingers.
“You don’t have to impress them. . . just be yourself that’s all,” he said. You gave him a small smile and bit at your bottom lip. “Now, let me teach you how to ice skate,” he smiled, slowly skating back while still holding your hands. “It’s just like roller skating but on ice and with blades.” Jack tugged at your right hand in request for you to use that foot to start off. This went on for a bit and soon your were moderately better at ice skating than you had been before.
