As horrifying and ominous as all of this is, I really like how CLAMP puts these panels together. Fai looks focused in a way we’ve rarely seen - which is fitting, because we’ve also only ever rarely seen him acknowledge his past in any way whatsoever. It’s a very grim look on him, but the look on Ashura’s face is no happier. We would almost expect him to react like a villain from the dramatic build up he’s had so far (all a hundred and forty chapters of it), but he just looks... sad.
He’s awake, he knows what Fai did, and he’s just sad.
And as much as I will regret saying this later I really can’t wait to find out why.
