“I know I should think well of myself; but that is not enough: if others don't love me I would rather die than live--I cannot bear to be solitary and hated, Helen. Look here; to gain some real affection from you, or Miss Temple, or any other whom I truly love, I would willingly submit to have the bone of my arm broken, or to let a bull toss me, or to stand behind a kicking horse, and let it dash its hoof at my chest--"
- Jane Eyre, Charlotte Brontë
Things I loved about Six the Musical
So I finally watched Six the Musical and here are some of the things I loved and thoughts I had about it.
So. Much. Sass!!!
So. Many. Puns. I love it 🥰
Ex Wives. Always a bop.
I loved the choreographies. It made it more fun to watch.
Aragon definitely had the most shhhht to deal with from Henry. She’s the real queen.
Obviously she should have won. “...Like, donde esta my crown. Por favor.” “Yeah but who was the other one? The more important one?” 🤣🤣🤣 the other queens are trolls.
Anne Boleyn’s interlude plays and they call her name. Anne Boleyn: what?
Anne, you only get one turn.
They really enforced the point of Jane being “the only one he truly loved” didn’t they?
Jane: I guess it’s my turn. Cleves: You? Queen, please. 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Jane acknowledges they all kicked Tudor butt and they’re fucking badasses. GIRL POWER, WHOOO!
Jane died after childbirth. But do you know what hurts more? A severed head, according to Boleyn.
Haus of Holbein. Nice rave. I saw someone write that on their blog about this song being a rave.
Anna of Cleves. May have been insulted at an international level, but she had it the best. But it was still tragic. 😢😢😢😏🤣
K. Howard. The least relevant Katherine? She mouthed everyone off. This is why she’s my favorite. She’s a sassy ass teenager.
I didn’t think All You Wanna Do could get heavier and more difficult to digest until this live performance. I have mad respect for K. Howard now.
I also have mad respect for Cathy Parr. Originally when I first heard I Don’t Need Your Love, I didn’t see how could that song factored into the Six the Musical storyline. It didn’t make sense to me. But after watching Cathy’s segment and how she performed and brought Six together, it made more sense.
Watching the Queens come together and give a big “FUCK YOU” to Henry, since he’s technically not there, was the BOMB!
“We’re one of a kind, no category. Too many years lost in history, we’re free to take our crowning glory for five more minutes.... We’re SIX.” I love how they sang Six. It made the performance’s effect so much stronger.
Overall, seeing the show is a totally different experience from just listening to the cast recording. Although I love it and listen to it everyday, the feeling of seeing it live is so much more different and is more fulfilling.
The recordings is like getting the treats little by little. Watching the full show is like receiving an entire meal that you can share with others. Six the Musical is a magical and empowering experience and I recommend it to everyone. It’s a fun hour and definitely worth your money.
I’ll stop now before I spoil the entire show.
Once a Queen, always a Queen.
here comes trouble
There is a video !!! Of Jane Fonda !!! Singing! With Helen Reddy! And it is very!!!!!! gay!!!!!!!!!! Like honestly tho look at the way Jane looks at Helen basically the whole time, esp while singing the love songs
so last night i came home so drunk my mum had to help me get changed and she saw my nip piercings and she's so mad hahahha
I recognize a pattern. And it’s not paisley.
last night I dreamt Jane Fonda was on a panel with a whole bunch of different female artists/actors, mostly younger than her. Then, they were asked a question about this male hunk actor– almost all of them scream but then Jane doesn’t really react at all, and instead picks up her mic and deadpans “I’m gay.” All of the women immediately pivot towards her shocked by her answer, smiling. One woman mouths “really?” Jane Fonda only responds with her expression, giving that “Oh shit, did I really say that out loud” face she always gives to herself, and then proceeds to laugh and say, “that was a joke!!!!”
