i’m making ghost rules

basically ghosts get stronger when they receive offerings, and when a ghost is first made they like can’t interact with things at all? except for sometimes one person can see and hear them if they’re haunting that person

anyway so most ghosts just dissapear when the reason they’re haunting is resolved, but sometimes they stay because they’ve found a new thing tethering them to the earth or their reason was never resolved

& if they get powerful enough they can stop themselves from dissapearing and just stay on earth

and so 

theres a cool addition

Gods are actually created from ghosts that recieved enough offerings

and so alot of the gods are like heroes and idols that eventually started recieving more and more offerings and gaining power

and so like maybe their society tries to hide the fact that’s how gods are created, because they dont want people to be able to create new gods? and theres all those layers of stuff there. And then theres like a bunch of gods also who try to keep new gods from being created, but also some gods which actually want to create more, so the others gods and the government/society tries to keep them from getting offerings and getting power maybe?

and offerings are actually more powerful based on the amount of care and sincerity behind them, but the majority think its just based on value, since that’s what the gods tell them, and noone really lives long enough to create gods and strengthen a ghost that much on their own, so unless theres alot of people in on it, it doesn’t really get achieved, so there isn’t much data on that

anyway, so what happens is theres this ghost, and what happened is when they died, they latched onto uhhh

ooo thats a good idea

so this ghost, when they died (im thinking drown in the river and the other person took them out?) they latched onto and haunted the person who tried to save them. But the thing is, this person who tried to save them was immortal, so basically this little dude ghost became immortal, since he was hauntng an immortal. Anyway at some point, the immortal started giving him offerings (in like an are they lovers? kind of way). and so this immortal and this ghost lived on for hundreds of years, and as they grew closer, the offerings became more valuable. And after hundreds of years of offerings, of them just chilling, this little ghost dude is now a super powerful near god being, who is just hanging around this immortal.
