He smiled the moment he felt her approach. Sure, he couldn’t hear her footsteps, a telltale sign she wasn’t walking towards him, but knew she was there regardless. Years of training and just a good ear in general garantueed he couldn’t miss her. Not that he WANTED to anyway. “ Am I supposed to ‘ guess who it is ’ now or do I go straight to the part where I tell you I’m GLAD you’re back? ” Hands reached for her arms, not to pull her hands away, just to rest against her for a moment.
There was just something about Kori’s presence that tended to immediately calm him down, ground him. God knows he could USE that from time to time. Although he had to admit as relieved as he was right now, he also immediately wondered if she had come here for a reason, if there was some important matter to discuss or if she was here just to see him. It would be nice to NOT have to worry about some big life threatening event for once when they met up.
SPOILER IS : sunshine and optimism, and it makes cassandra smile to herself, almost imperceptible. batman works alone, but she is not batman, and she knows both from barbara’s stories and her own research that batgirl has been known to trust an ally or two.
“you [...] sure?” cassandra asks hesitantly. steph’s legs dangle from the fire escape they’re both perched on: stephanie, sitting, cassandra, crouched in a ready position, the heels of her lightweight black boots barely touching the ground.
she makes a decision, then. turns to stephanie and holds out a gloved hand, an open vulnerability, she can see the ways that stephanie might ignore the hand and move to knock her off this roof, she can see the moves she would make to counter them, to kill to end the fight. TRUST.
