It’s small headcanon I always had, that all characters who have reishi (Anna, Hao,Ohachiyo, Opacho) hate noise.
Reishi makes you always hear other people’s thoughts. Wherever you go, they are following you, screaming and jellying. Non-stop noise that brings pain and emotions of all people around you. Silence seems like heaven.
So, I imagine Yoh is always careful that music or Tv aren’t too loud-it is habit by now, something that comes naturally to him. And that shouting at Opacho will get you horns rammed between ribs.
mappadouji said: I AGREE. I also read a fic a while ago (I can’t remember the name/where it was) that played with soft instrumental music being soothing. Yoh gave Hao a mixtape of gentle music and it helped him sleep. Voices, though, I could see being a huge issue. Crowds would be agony. :(
That sounds really nice, and very in character for Yoh. I can see him doing such things for Anna and Hao, doing his best to to find comfortable music for them ( bit hard, as I think their tastes really differ from his -Anna is fond of sorrowful, angry ballads, while Hao.... let’s just say living for thousand years leaves you with varied, bit strange taste in music) while also being bit creeped out ( those two really like dark and bloody okay?). He does manage to find cheerful things they would like though.
We saw Anna isolate herself to get away from other’s thoughts. I believe that even if she no longer has reishi, noise and loudness are uncomfortable for her (though nowdays she deals with them by slapping source in oblivion). Hao, being part of Imperial Court, had to get used to it, so he simply ignored it and went on ( which obviously didn’t do any good in long run). Opacho would either break down or simply rip apart everybody in vicinity. Ohachiyo, being demon, likely didn’t have this problem.
It is small headcanon of mine that all those thought can lead to overstimulation, resulting in nerve breakdown.
Summary: His two important friends from his first live muse on the journey he has taken over three life time
Hao collapsed into his chair hand pressed against forehead as he battle a new kind of headache. While Yoh had assured him it would go away with time, he found it more uncomfortable than the constant ones brought on by reishi. Yoh told him he was just scared of the unknown, but the smack he received from Anna proved Hao's own thought that Yoh had no idea what he was talking about.
“Willow bark would soothe your head.”
“I was wondering when you would show up to see the fruits of your labor, Matamune.”
“If I only had the strength of Yoh. I would have been able to save you instead of being forced to slay you,” Matamune replied standing back and to the side of the kings chair.
“Perhaps it was for the better,” Hao mused.
“Being saved by ones own self is not a fate mere humans could do. Of course you stopped being human long ago,” Ohachiyo added appearing inside the highest society.
“It's hard to maintain humanity when surrounded by demons parading as humans,” Hao retorted.
“So says the one who absorbed an actual demon inside himself,” Ohachiyo chided.
“And yet he maintain his humanity however fragile it was. For he cared for me when no one else would, and bestowed upon me a life much longer than most could ever dream of. None of this would be possible without his childlike humanity. Yoh is a testament to that. Fate brought you to reincarnate with a twin, allowing you become acquainted with your humanity once more” Matamune commented as he blew small puffs on his pipe.
