i know this doesn’t matter at all especially in the year 2022 but my personal headcanon for homestuck is that the ‘alpha’ timeline that we followed as an audience was actually always doomed from the beginning, hence the scratch, then eventually game over. which is why john ended up needing to retcon the timeline in order to actually create a successful timeline and create earth c. like they’ve clearly said on several occasions, they were never meant to win the game. their session was cancerous.
