     With his parents divorcing when he was just a young teen, Dalton knew that eventually, his father had to move on. He just really didn’t expect his father to move on within less than five years after the divorce. It wasn’t like Dalton wasn’t happy for his dad; on the contrary, he was ecstatic his old man was finally happy and moving on from the toxic relationship that he had with Dalton’s mother. So, when his dad mentioned that it was time for Dalton to meet his girlfriend and her daughter (which was a relief for Dalton; it would be awkward if his dad’s girlfriend was closer to his age), he had agreed, knowing it would make his father happy.

      So, as he stood in front of Ysenia and her mother, he greeted them with a polite smile, his eyes lingering on the girl his age, before stepping back. “It’s great to meet you two. My dad speaks highly of you, Ms. Ortiz,” he grinned, eyes glancing at Ysenia, before looking back at her mother.

      ( @ohbrothcrs )  val was at the point where she took the first job she could get, which happened to be a receptionist job at the local police station. she’d never been a fan of authority which was the ironic part of it all. but even more ironic was who worked there: the man she’d found herself in bed with last night. that was something she’d hardly expected. they hadn’t spoken much all day, a quick greeting, pretending they didn’t already know each other for the sake of everyone else. but now that it was her break she found herself seeking him out, not for promiscuous reasons, but for professional ones. she found him in the break room, luckily he was alone and she took the opportunity to shut the door behind her. valentina wasn’t really one to feel awkward in situations like this, but he might be, after all she really didn’t know him all too well. or at all. “for the sake of your sanity and my own, i’m willing to pretend last night never happened,” she said, getting right to the point, “would that make things easier for you?”
