Lol of course it didn't send. But my buddy is getting a z31 tomorrow. And I no nothing about the z31 model. I was just wondering if there are any problems with them( you should know since you have one lol) It has 90k miles and the clutch is starting to slip.
Go to the car early in the morning to see how it does cold starts.
Check for drips when the car is parked.
Walk around the car and inspect for rust. Look is there rust near the fire wall? If so walk away.
Open the hatch, lift up the carpet. Look the the left you’ll see the tool kit if they still have it. Remove that and inspect for rust. That is BY FAR the number one spot for rust as water pools under the tool kit.
Open the spare tire compartment on the right side of the hatch. Check if the wheel is still there, and the canister of air is still there. Remove the wheel and also inspect for rust.
Check that all gauges work, don’t worry about the two gauge pods in the middle of the dash, those little bastards fail all the time.
Check if the brake lights work
A/C work? No? welcome to the club baby
Check the headlights, Z31 headlight switches tend to go bad making either your low/hi beams or fog lights not work or in worst case none of them work.
Now drive extremely slow in the parking lot till the point the car begins to buck because rpms are too low, if you hear a whining, or rattling noise that could be wheel bearings.
How does its shift? Do you slide into gears easily? Does it grind?
When you shift, if you hear a loud “clunk" from the trunk, that’s your diff mount gone bad, you can drive with it but it’s annoying as fuck
No step on the gas, look for any smoke coming from the back of the car in the rear view mirror, same for when its idling. Black smoke ok
white or blue smoke? Welcome to blown head gasket, walk away.
Does the car squat a lot when you punch it? Yeah? Welcome to shitty semi-trailing arm suspension, that’s normal.
But does it rebound a lot after squatting on acceleration? If so bad shocks or springs.
Now step on the brakes, do they feel firm? they should, is the car stopping?
Does the wheel shudder when braking? You may need tie rods.
If you can take the car up to say 50 mph on a highway does the car feel stable? or loose?
your t-tops WILL leak, just deal with it or drop the cash to replace the seals.
Check for any signs of collision so look at the frame rails and look if they’re damaged.
