personally i like alfred but you make a lot of good points about his character, and it's got me thinking about better ways to write him. i've got two that i like so far, 1. show alfred being familial with the family but acting the cold stoic butler when anyone else is around 2. actually explore why he keeps himself cold and distant and how that's affected bruce and everyone else. the first lends itself more to comedy but i think the second would be more interesting.
