so im a little confused. i haven't watched voltron (only the first episode, im terrible at binge watching things) what happened that was so bad?
since the beginning of the show fans have asked showrunners, writers, and voice actors if they’re will be LGBT+ rep and every time they answered “it’s something that very important to us/you’ll just have to wait and see/you’ll be happy don’t worry/etc”. For the past over two years fans have been asking this question again and again with the crew building their hopes up everytime and finally they “revealed” Shiro (the most tortured protag who they at one point were going to kill off) was gay and in a relationship with a character, Adam, and they finally basked in all the praise they were showered with and emphasised that Shiro’s relationship with Adam is very important to his character
.....and then season 7 aired, Shiro and Adam were never shown in canon in a confirmed relationship, it was completely ambiguous, they only have one scene together in which they get into a fight and “break up”, Adam is then reintroduced 6 episodes later for 2 minutes only to get killed off, when Shiro finds out Adam has died he gets a 12 second scene touching a 1″ by 3″ memorial plaque for Adam and only says “Adam, I’m sorry” and isn’t even shown crying, and then Adam is lost and forgotten to time.
Also the show’s been racist since time, but that’s a long one
