OH NO! YOKO "Dance With Me, Michael"
sled for me baby ft: brieanne elise
TITLE // Sled for me baby.
About 10 months ago, I bought myself a bike. I named her Lucy. She was going to be my number one gal during the festival that has currently sunk its musical teeth into our city. Allow me to gush for a split second here as to why I think this festival is amazing:
1. The streets are ours! You know that song by Richard Hawley? Yeah, that’s the feeling I get when I see all the bikes on the streets in Calgary. You can wave, say hi, high five all your friends or wink at that total babe on the fixie.
2. Make new friends! As far as I’ve experienced, Sled brings out 92%, if not all of the most awesome people in this city.
3. Explore! Sled will often bring you to a venue or bar you likely never knew existed. Embrace it, fall in love with this city once again. So, seeing as my best friend decided to get married in Mexico this week, I can’t sled (and Lucy will remain lonely in my best friend’s basement.) Anywho, I’ve put together a couple videos of bands that I think you should check out!
Oh No! Yoko //
You know that band you always wanted to start as a kid, the one that was going to be really amazing and end up touring through Europe? Yeah, you didn’t make it happen, but these four dudes from Abbotsford did. Catch them at Market Collective on Saturday afternoon or Bamboo at 11:15 on Saturday!
(This video? Tetrics love story? Best.)
Song // Go Alien
LEGS //
There’s something to be said of a singer who knows how to fully control her/his voice. In this case it’s a her, and she is a babe. Hailing from Vancouver, BC, singer Allie Sheldan’s voice is haunting, breathy and soulful. Seek out this siren at Republik on Thursday at 8:30 PM. Song //
Teen Daze // In my humble opinion, if music can move you to close your eyes, and lose yourself from your surroundings, your friends and your expectations for even just one song, it’s done a might fine job. Teen Daze is likely to get you swaying unconsciously or tapping your foot mindlessly. After listening to his groovy electronic tunes, you’ll probably have the most epic bike ride through the city, with his music still ringing in your ears, playing as the best soundtrack you could ask for as you weave through the dark streets.
Song // Driving Home From The Beach (The Feeling Of)
Sled with an open mind & open ears. And at some point stop at Tubby Dog and gorge yourself. Just do it.
