you've heard of shovels. and you've heard of rope. but you may not heard of this duo. an outrageous blend of folk-rock, country, blues, indie - and probably something completely intangible - their music has a familiar, yet incredibly unique sound. it's raw. it's emotional. it tells a story. and most of the people in these stories die.

i like this duo because they do their own thing - they keep it simple: there's a ton of power and sound coming out of two people and a few instruments - and because the way they weave a story through a song is magical. but it's also a strange combination of soothing and jarring. it's like listening to the civil wars with sand in your teeth.

not an experience you'll soon regret or forget.
