Oh! Taisho - St. Marks Place, New York, NY

This little place specializes in Japanese yakitori, but has quite a variety of unique Japanese foods that are all very tempting to order. What was refreshingly new was the soaked rice in hot broth with shredded salmon (forget the exact name). It wasn't like other typical thick Asian congee but wasn't like watered down rice soup. 

Each dish had its own distinctive flavor, which was a big plus. However, the service was horrendous. I don't know whether it was because we were in a large group, but that's no excuse for the service. We asked for another table since we were 6 and they seated us at a table of 4, they refused. We asked for some more cups to share the XL Coke we ordered, they refused. My friend put her bag on an extra chair right next to her, he came and asked her to take her bag off the chair and took the chair away (the place wasn't even full or in need of that one extra chair). 

Perhaps we'll give this spot another chance because the food is actually quite good, and just hope the service is better next time...
