Plot: 8/10
As I am really a korean drama fan, I decided to write down how I feel about korean dramas that I have watched - So this is probably my first post about it (but please be kind, I’m not good about writing and expressing my feelings lol)
*Spoiler alert*
Let’s start about the plot. I find the story way too deep that it seems to be. It’s not about only about a guardian protecting the “heroine”. I think it also tells us that whatever you do, you have to take responsibility of the actions and consequences that it follows. The people around Samjang (Oh Yeon-Seo) played an important role for the growth of her character, well the character development is intense. Especially Lee Seung-gi’s character. From a “jerk” who doesn’t even know what real pain is to making an important decision that will risk his life to save the love of his life.
The twist about the Geumgganggo is woah. I thought it was only like an ancient bracelet that will only confined Son Oh-gong. At first I was really annoyed about this. I thought he was just a coward hiding behind this freaking bracelet - not even telling her how he really feels. I find their story too fucked up, like come on, they both lived years being lonely then when they found each other again, their fates were already determined and will end up killing each other.
Only having a one day for “closure” is way too short. My heart is still crying over how he cannot really fully expressed how he really feel about her because of the freaking time limit. (Fck the spiritual realm, always in the picture 🙄) anyway, the ending was bittersweet. I had hoped for more, but I ended up crying instead because it’s too freaking sad. I cannot bear also P.K and Richie’s story. I hoped also that before Asanyeo took over Richie’s body, she will find peace and will truly remember her human life. I hoped she had met her mother. Like also having a closure. I also waited for the moment that she will confess her feelings with PK (i shipped them also).
Ma-wang, the annoying one. I was irritated at him at first because I cannot feel his sincerity (well, I quite understand him). One time he will helped Oh-gong then the following second, he will be deceived then will turn against him again. My gosh. He was well, quite gullible ha ha ha. But I was sad because I loved their bromance. Cha Seung-won portrayal was hilarious. He was really the funniest one. I cannot helped but love him as the story continues.
Oh Yeon-seo is just too beautiful. Her character portrayal and character develpment was spot on. From being the weakest one to sacrificing herself to save the world. I honestly shipping her with Lee Seung-gi but oh boy, she is dating the flower boy, Kim Bum. Hahahahaha. I loved how she fully confessed her feeling to Oh-gong (girl, it was about time). I was getting impatient because these too were just too coward to tell each other how they truly feel. Always hiding behind the freaking geumganggo. I loved how they build up the story and the true “confession” (plus the sweet scene hihi).
The antagonist, Kang Dae-Sung is too ANNOYING! Coward and jerk. He is just too evil hiding behind a good looking face. But The question is, what happen to him? I need to see how he ended up - i’m not convinced. Lol
Overall, the story is good. The actors are spot on. No wonder it was the most watched drama on its time-slot. This was a success comeback of Lee Seung-gi. I’m also quite happy that Park Bogum declined the role. I think Lee Seung-gi is fitted to take this role. His aura is different and as well is attitude. He portrayed the role very very well. I feel the Goblin vibe while watching this series. The ending also felt similar. I am still hoping for season 2 because, come on, we need to find answers and we want Seon-mi and Oh-gong to get back together.but I also find the ending fitted to the initial plot. They’re not match made in heaven and I think this is one of those stories that the protagonists are meant to meet but not meant to stay with each other. Awww. But this is still sad.
Watch this drama, very interesting and it will break your heart.
My favorite lines in the whole series. This trope was used so well for a wide variety of scenes & emotions. #leesunggi #hwayugi #ohyeonseo #kdrama #kdramas #koreandrama #koreandramas (at Honolulu, Hawaii)
Whoever watches A Korean Odyssey or Hwayugi would agree with me on this one. Episodes 9 and 10 were an emotional roller coaster ride. At one point these two were holding hands and then in just a snap, they were back to their tug-of-war kind of love. I'm going crazy here! And so, since it would be a very excrutiating weeks for me and I won't be able to watch this drama, I was looking for fanfictions but there's nothing.
And by the way, I am badly shipping these two actors now, Lee Seung Gi and Oh Yeon Seo. I've never shipped any couple this hard, aside from the Song-Song couple that is. I'm hoping these two would end up the same way. But anyhow, enough with the blabber.
I'm excited for the next episodes to come and at the same time, I'm kinda scared, because this drama has that Angst, a tragic ending waiting to happen, feel to it. I just hope it's not gonna be the case.
***spoiler alert*** episode 20 esp this scene made me bawl like a baby, huhuhu why such a sweet bitter ending, andweeee! 😭😭😭 #hwayugi #akoreanodyssey #leeseunggi #ohyeonseo
One of the best Korean dramas for 2018! Some episodes in the middle were a bit boring but they managed to bounce back and provided a great ending. From the story, to the actors, actresses, OST and even the effects, everything was amazing! I commend TVN for producing another great drama like 화유기. Kudos to all the staffs and production team for a great drama. A must watch drama for this year, Hwayugi (화유기) - A Korean Odyssey. #Hwayugi #화유기 #FinalEpisode #ExplorewithAhjussi #LeeSeunggi #OhYeonSeo #ChaSeungWon #TVN #Koreandrama #Ianadventures #ian8ip7photography (at Bucheon)
