For those that have read the Oil book:

Do you think Eli Watkins was supposed to be interpreted as having epilepsy but filtered through time period ableism? The scene after Mr. Ross implies Paul is the third revelation seems to suggest a seizure rather than a religious episode whether genuine or faked.

As well as all the references to him having “the shivers” and Upton Sinclair referring to him like this in a summary of a chapter:

I had taken it as a possible reason for why Abel thought of him as the one through whom “the Lord plans great blessings.”
