ppl perceive P like that, cos that’s how jk describes him. mcG, sirius, death eaters and voldmrt all treat/mention him as such. i think he only got away w/ the betrayal/spying because no one saw it coming. i detest him, he has no redeeming qualities
i guess i see where youre coming from but at the same time i think we're supposed to realize that people were wrong about him ?? like nobody believed he was capable of betraying two of his best friends and their infant son but he did that u know like we cant just lap up what characters tell us about other characters because a lot of times theyre wrong ((and that benefits the plot progression))
we know that jkr uses that tactic to throw us off the mark a lot with characters like dumbledore ((everyone for literally six and a half books was like "oh hes the greatest most selfless and wise human being on the planet and all his ideas are great")) and james ((who up until ootp we thought was like this really cool great dude because everyone told harry he was, but it turns out he bullied kids for no reason and was basically a douchebag for a long time etc etc))
i think it was deliberately written as a blind side which was intended to make the readers reevaluate their opinions of peter as nothing more than a tagalong third wheel
