I just made my way through a few wikipedia articles of these gangsters and it is baffling to me how accurate the show depicted everything. of course some of it is just surmising, but they really got almost everything and everyone in that is known. (only with nucky they took greater creative liberties, but it makes sense bc he is the main character, they did the same in mr selfridge.)
and now that I know what happens to meyer and lucky after a.r.'s death, I want a spinoff. and I haven't even seen season 5 yet. I was a little sceptical why boardwalk empire is considered one of the best tv shows ever made and I don't necessarily agree in terms of inventiveness, but I do think the production is impressive. everything feels very real and I understand the connections, they storytelling is very gripping and the sets are bautifully made. as I've said, some misogyny I could've done without, but I think they did a good job in showing the circumstances of that time.
