Such an awesome landscape inviting anyone for a nice, brisk walk Lunch hour, and I am exploring the area around Okains bay, a place fiskermen and whalers has used for centuries. Easy access to the rich Pacific Ocean, next stop Chile. And then this lady trundled by, keeping a brisk tempo with her walking sticks. But, honestly, it is a beautiful area and this summer day was sunny and nice as well. Okains Bay is on the Bank's Peninsula southeast of Christchurch. It was formerly a big volcano, and it formed the terrain characteristically yet special. The bay was the first inhabited by maori in the 1300's. I have visited several times, partly because there are traces from Norwegian sailors and whalers in the local museum.
