Glacier Peak Hike

While at Alpine Lodge in the last days of the training week with Ōkamiyama, members of the two teams have the option to go on an overnight hike into the wilderness and camp beside a small lake with Glacier Peak in the distance. Nearly all members of Karasuno (except for Tsukishima and Yamaguchi) go along with Erik Thorvald, Kodah Stone, Alex Williams, Charlie Vo, and Taylor Martin from Ōkamiyama. The rest of the teams, managers, and coaches stay at the lodge. The hike is led by Erik’s older brother, Ragnar, and one of the translators comes along too. Below the cut are photos of the hiking and camping areas.

Technically to get to Image Lake (the first photos) that would involve a LONG and very hard hike over the course of a few days. Anime magic to speed that up and to reposition Image Lake’s real location north of Glacier Peak to the western side and closer to the made up Alpine Lodge.

Everett Training Schedule

8:00am - Breakfast 9:00am - Warmups 9:30am - Single Set Match 10:00am - Team Practice 12:00pm - Lunch 1:00pm - Afternoon Event 4:00pm - Free Time 6:00pm - Dinner 7:00pm - Full Set Match 9:00pm - Individual Practice 11:00pm - Lights Out

This takes place Monday through Friday with Karasuno and Ōkamiyama in Everett, Washington. Each day there is a guest team that comes in the evening for a practice match. On Friday they leave for Alpine Lodge in the Glacier Peak wilderness and stay there until Sunday evening. The two teams stay in cabins and spend all day Saturday and most of Sunday playing matches against each other, the four invited teams, and enjoying the surrounding nature.

Seattle Tournament

32 Team Single Elimination (results spoilers below cut)

Red / Black / Blue / Green Brackets

8 Schools in each Bracket, with all teams playing a best of 3 Sets match on Day 1. The daily schedule is split up into four blocks and after Day 1 the games are laid out so that all spectators and participants may watch every match if desired. All matches are held in the University of Washington’s Alaska Airlines Arena (x x) and all of the teams are invited to stay on campus in dorms or vacant Greek Life houses.

Some of these team names will be reused in Japan, most of these are just meant to be realistic fillers without arbitrary names like Blue Team 16, Green Team 31, etc. Each one is an animal and more info on each is here.

In this tournament, Karasuno wears jerseys gifted to them by Ōkamiyama. These two new jerseys are in “light/home” and “dark/away” styles common in American sports. All of the crows are given a new pairs of shoes and pads- their choice of color. These jerseys are most resembling physically of Shiratorizawa, Inarizaki, Fukurōdani, Kamomedai, etc with slightly shorter sleeves and no collars. Literally this jersey but not these colors.

Light Shirts: White with orange numbers and back “KARASUNO” lettering, thin orange v-neck collar and sleeve cuff trim, front v-neck part black. Numbers / letters outlined in black. Small black 烏 野 on front left chest. Small black crow on front right chest. Light Shorts: Orange with mirrored / matching small black crow on front left leg.

Dark Shirts: Black with orange numbers and back “KARASUNO” lettering, thin orange v-neck collar and sleeve cuff trim. Numbers / letters outlined in white. The sleeves have winged ‘texture’ to resemble crow feathers that stretch across the chest and upper back. Small white 烏 野 across front center chest. Dark Shorts: Black with feather ‘texture’ design that matches sleeves.

I always have thought it was a little odd that the main Karasuno jerseys are NAVY BLUE and not BLACK when their official colors are orange, black, and white. It may be due to highlighting Hinata and Kageyama’s eye colors.
