I was literally thinking about this today. I cannot get enough of the twins leaning into alt music and style the second they get space from their parents and probably even well before that. You know Victor and Trudy were not on board with Marilyn Manson.

As teens the twins have bootleg copies of their favorite music (tapes, CDs, mp3s, who gives a fuck) that they listen to with headphones only. They go to school wearing nice button-up shirts and underneath they have band tees and as soon as they round the corner that outer layer is gone. You know they both had notebooks full of angry lyrics with cussing in it and super angsty doodles and poems and shit that would get them sent to the principal's office if they got caught. So they just don't get caught.

And once Ma and Pa are dead and gone, holy shit it's Christmas. They paint each other's nails black. They overhaul their wardrobes. They blast their music so fucking loud because no one is there to stop them. The first time they drive to a concert together is the best night of both their lives. (It's a good memory for Lester too, because yes they brought him along, but maybe less good than it was for the twins because he was kind of young and it scared the shit out of him a little bit but he'll never admit it.) Between Vincent looking like he stepped out of a vampire novel and Bo's whole aura, they're a sight to behold.

They've chilled out a little since then, but Vincent still paints his nails black and Bo still bumps his music and it's a subtle reminder that they don't answer to anyone but themselves nowadays.
