HCCCWeek : Day 8 - Free day (The Music of Hometown Cha Cha Cha)
I’m sorry I’m a day late to this tag but I couldn’t skip this last day given I had religiously posted everyday of this fun tag that was initiated by @iamacolor
What is left to be said about Hometown Cha Cha Cha? Brilliant acting, brilliant star cast, heart touching stories, terrific writing, great direction, scenic cinematography ! Is it then any surprise that the soundtrack for this series - songs and background music both were also phenomenal?
I’m addicted to it! From the day the teaser came, to the title music, to Romantic Sunday playing in the epilogue of Episode 1! What a lovely 60s classic feel that song has!
And I wondered how would the rest of the songs ever match this one? I was so wrong because now that I have listened to the entire album - Romantic Sunday doesn’t even feature on my Top 3 songs of the album!
Here are my Top 3 Songs :
Image of You - This first plays at the realisation scene of HyeJin and it felt so dreamy. The lyrics match up nicely to HyeJin being unable to get him out of her mind; every moment since they first met and how he made his place in her heart steadily, comes back to her!
Wish - Choi Yu Ree’s voice is so mesmerising - beautiful and haunting! The song a lovely blend of melancholia and romance. The song first played at their first hug when HyeJin was scared and rushed into his arms! Aha I can never forget their expression and how tightly he held on to her. It then plays when HyeJin and DuSik are on their beach date. DuSik fighting his inner demons - wanting to be hers, but questioning himself if he can ever be happy! That beach date as I have said here many times before remains my most favourite scene of this drama. Kim Seon Ho delivered an acting masterclass.
Here Always - How special was HyeJin’s confession to DuSik, how her honesty and vulnerability broke down all his walls of resistance, how he could no longer help his feelings too and accepted her confession right away! The song plays as he leans in to kiss her the first time, then accepts her confession and leans in again. It was perfect - everything about this scene was perfect.
Lastly , it’s not just the songs but the background music that caught my ear too! But most favourite of all is this heart-warming , makes me smile every time I listen to the guitar strumming is Old Bicycle tune. The one that played in the background on two of my favourite scenes which I mentioned here!
I loved , loved writing and participating in this tag! I have become slightly more protective about this show now ; so I’m going to make sure to shower all the love and accolades I can on this wonderful show, it is easily in my Top 10 Favourite KDramas of all time!
