old astrolabe + armillary sphere
A Treatise on the Astrolabe (1391) is a medieval instruction manual on the astrolabe by Geoffrey Chaucer. It describes both the form and the proper use of the instrument, and stands out as a prose technical work from a writer better known for poetry.
Wandering about how humans have always been obsessed with precision and time in a world that is inherently chaotic. Honestly, I could cry. We are amazing for keep trying this hard pointless-not-so-pointless things.
I usually don’t make posts, but I needed to share with the world this incredible Nickelodeon/”Orchestrion” (ca. 1922-1929) from the Old Sautee Store in Sautee, Georgia (ca. 1872). It has a little marimba/xylophone! Best 25 cents spent.
More info about my cello:
it is always very dusty
it has a fucker of an e flat wolf note
it has a sound post crack
there are worn down ditches in the fingerboard
its scroll has filled in holes that used to hold the screws for metal tuning pegs
it is the definition of an absolute hot mess
it plays like a dream
it sounds like one of those ridiculously soft bed throws turned into music
it is my one true musical love

"I may never know what rich is, all I do is barter"
Bro and I just found an electric organ for free on Facebook and we’re probably picking it up. (This is in the span of 45 minutes btw)
