This ask is sorta random, but its a thought I rly wanted to share since I think it’s kinda wholesome :)
If you think about it, Roger’s wife Kamillah is living every fan girl’s fanfic dream. From my understanding, she met him when she was working as his driver and he literally fell in love with her at first sight. Compared to his other wives and gfs (except Judy I guess, not sure about Carolyne) all of them were sorta prominent or worked in the entertainment industry like Priscilla and Laurie. The way he looks at her is unlike the way he’s ever looked at anyone in my observation. I think she really is the one. He always dedicates the last song for her at his recent concerts.
Good for her, I’m honestly so happy for them. Hope they stay together forever ❤️ (this is so random, apologies for the nonsensical ramble!)
Does he really dedicate songs to her ? That's indeed really sweet. I'm not sure how you evaluate 'the way he looks at her' though, especially compared to other partners, given how few pictures we have of Roger + Kamilah together and even fewer of him + previous wives.
I do believe he's finally found true love with Kamilah, but I don't think her social/professional background has much to do with it. True love transcends class or income ; though I guess social expectations among certain social groups and tensions linked with money can jeopardize a marriage, and there might have been some of that in his relationship with Carolyne, Priscilla and Laurie. But tbh trying to resolve the mystery of Roger's many failed marriages is a bit of a useless quest until the day he clears it up himself. There just isn't enough info out there, it's all conjecture.
What makes me believe in the viability of his relationship with Kamilah is what he's said about his new vision of love in several interviews a few years ago. It's not that he had a massive breakthrough or that he realized he never actually loved his previous wives, more that his understanding of love & relationships has matured in the meantime. He's finally linked the part of his psyche that cares about the plight of human beings all over the world and the part that falls in love with women ; he's figured out that romantic love should stem from the basic, universal brotherly love that you might call charity or humanitarianism. I wanna say, 'duh !' But you know, better late than never.
Relevant interview excerpts (+ links to full interview) :
Are you married now ? RW : "No, I’m… not. I’m single. [...] I did fall deeply, deeply, deeply in love about a year ago and uh… I’m not going to talk about that except to say that that has opened up fresh horizons." Being in love is different than it was before, or…? "Yeah. With all due respect to my many ex-wives. [...] Oh god, my god yeah, open yourself up to love… It’s the hardest, most kind of dangerous thing that anybody can do. And that’s, you know, on a personal level with a woman… But it points the way maybe to the fact that there is only one path worth walking in life, and that is to attempt, insofar as you can, to open yourself up to everybody else as well. That is the mission, is to discover how much you can open yourself up to the rest of humanity." WTF Podcast, october 2016 (before he was with Kamilah)
Tell us about "Wait for Her." Why did you decide to interpret that poem into an English ballad, and what special meaning does it hold for you? "Well, that’s sort of private. You see it has something to do with love and it has something to do with how feeling the power of emotions that one can feel in a love affair, in a love for a woman or a man, I don’t care … Romantic love, and physical love and passionate love can bring out in one, maybe encourage the potential that we have for a broader expression of the love that we all have within us." Stepfeed.com, october 2017
What is good? "Love is good, obviously. It requires maturation. If you have real love, it will surely last a long time. Because love is about giving, not receiving." Do you have a 'real love' today? "Yes, I have Kamilah. We are not married, but we have been together for a couple of years. And I'm happy." Infobae.com, november 2018
I'm assuming that this last interview is the one you referenced when you talked about how he & Kamilah met, but if it was a different one, please share the link ! I'm always hungry for some fresh interviews ! Oh and btw, I'm remembering now that I was supposed to post a translated version of it some time last year. Is anyone still interested in this ? If so PLEASE tell me. (Otherwise I won't bother)
We can all disagree with Roger’s viewpoint but the death threats he’s been getting and being publicly put on a hit list is unacceptable
I didn't know he was getting death threats because of his stance on Ukraine. Of course it's unacceptable but I don't think there's anything new about this, as I'm pretty sure he was getting them for denouncing the apartheid in Israel and probably various other things.
He's also not a special case and we shouldn't find his situation more unacceptable than that of anyone else who's getting death threaths for any reason, just because 'he's OUR Rog' or whatever.
That being said, Internet harassment of 'problematic' figures can get absolutely unhinged, and it's really effing sad. See Charlie Gilmour's (of all people) speech on that topic.
Hey I’m not sure if you know about this, but do you know if Roger ever talks about his youngest son Jack? I have no idea how old he is except I’m guessing he lives a private life because it’s what Priscilla and Rog want for him. It’s just insane how tall he is 😂 I kinda imagine him having the same humor as his dad, lol
In general Roger doesn't talk about his kids much, except maybe his oldest son Harry because he used to be part of his touring band as a keyboardist.
All I know about Jack is that he was born in 1997 (his mum is Priscilla Phillips, Roger's 3rd wife) and is the main reason Roger moved to the US in the early 2000s following their divorce.
You can see Jack in the 'Roger Waters : The Wall' movie, in one of the road trip sequences where Roger takes his kids to visit his grandfather's grave in the north of France. Jack's sitting at the front and is having a discussion about dreams with his father ; they exchange glances and seem to be pretty close. His half-siblings seem to like him as well. He speaks with a British accent even though I'm pretty sure he grew up in NY (or at least in the US), which would indicate he's spent at lot of time with his dad, and also possibly goes to university in the UK, idk.
I've also seen a video of him accompanying Roger to the premiere of that movie, waiting while his dad is being interviewed and BOY the social awkwardness is palpable ! 😁 (and relatable, I should say). He also seems to have an eyebrow/forehead nervous tic. And yeah, he is T A L L !
A NOTE FROM ROGER WATERS REGARDING UKRAINE. BUT FIRST, A NOTE FROM ALINA:
Hello! My name is Alina Mitrofanova, I am 19 years old, and I live in Ukraine. Today my country is resisting the Russian invasion and the real war started by Russian president and led by Russian army.
I am a huge Pink Floyd and Roger Waters fan, and it was very important for me to hear Roger's opinion on this whole situation. It may not seem as urgent and critical, because this war can be considered as only "our problem", but unfortunately it rapidly becomes a catastrophe for the entire Europe and world. The war started 11 days ago, and everyday we hear sirens that signalize about bombs thrown by Russian occupants. Russia's aggression destroys MY country, kills hundreds of innocent adults and children in MY country, and I cannot explain how many Ukrainians are forced to leave their homes and run away from this madness. Ukrainian Eastern cities are being destroyed by Russian army, hundreds of thousands of people are evacuating and becoming refugees, and their number is increasing every minute. I'm in pain, as many other Ukrainians, because it hurts a lot to see how MY country becomes a military target for Russia and its mad leader, who's convinced that there are "neo-Nazis", who have to be killed. It's absolutely false, because I live here, and I can tell 200% that there are no such people there! I ask Roger to speak publicly about this war, because I still cannot understand how a person, who wrote a significant number of anti-war lyrics, hasn't spoken about tragedy yet. Furthermore, fully understand that Roger's point of view may be different, but I ask him to share his own opinion on this war. It's better than just being silent, because in this situation, silence is one of the worst enemies - it's impossible to build a wall in this situation and stay isolated from this problem.
I'm 95% sure that this letter will not be delivered to Roger directly, and it would be just a miracle if a have an answer. However, a man who speaks about risks of nuclear catastrophe and about the senselessness of the war cannot be silent in this situation. Tell the world your position!
Best regards from Ukraine, Alina Mitrofanova

Dear Alina, I read your letter, I feel your pain, I am disgusted by Putin’s invasion of Ukraine, it is a criminal mistake in my opinion, the act of a gangster, there must be an immediate ceasefire. I regret that Western governments are fueling the fire that will destroy your beautiful country by pouring arms into Ukraine, instead of engaging in the diplomacy that will be necessary to stop the slaughter. Rest assured if all our leaders don’t turn down the rhetoric and engage in diplomatic negotiations there will be precious little of Ukraine left when the fighting is over. A long drawn out insurgency in Ukraine would be great for the gangster hawks in Washington, it’s what they dream of, “playing the game” as they do, ”with the bravery of being out of range” I desperately hope your President is not a gangster too and that he will do what is best for his people, and demand of the Americans that they come to the table. Sadly however, many world leaders are gangsters and my disgust for political gangsters did not start last week with Putin. I was disgusted by the gangsters Bush and Blair when they invaded Iraq in 2003, I was and still am disgusted by the gangster government of Israel's invasion of Palestine in 1967 and its subsequent apartheid occupation of that land which has now been going on for over fifty years. I was disgusted by the gangsters Obama and Clinton ordering NATO's illegal bombings of both Libya and Serbia. I am disgusted by the wholesale destruction of Syria initiated, as it was, in 2011 by outside interference in the cause of regime change. I was disgusted by the invasion of Lebanon in 1982 when the gangster Shimon Peres connived with the Christian Phalangist Militias in the murder of Palestinian refugees in Sabra and Shatila refugee camps in the south of that country.
I feel for you Alina, and your Mum and Dad and your uncles and aunts and brothers and sisters and cousins, I lost both my father Eric Fletcher Waters and my grandfather George Henry Waters in wars fighting the Germans.
Please believe me when I tell you that I believe in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights signed in Paris 1948. I have fought as hard as I know how to foster and support human rights for all my brothers and sisters all over the world for as long as I can remember, and I support you and yours now, with all my heart. Speaking of gangsters, I do have to take issue with you about one thing in your letter, your “200%” belief that there are no Neo-Nazis in your country is almost certainly mistaken. Both the Azov Battalions in your army, the National Militia and C14 are well known self-proclaimed Neo Nazis groups. They are gangsters too.
Also, I have not been silent on Ukraine, I wrote a piece which was distributed six days ago by Globetrotter, I shall append it to this post: https://braveneweurope.com/roger-waters-the-war...
What else Alina? Well, we the people, all of us in every country in the world, including Ukraine and Russia, can fight the gangsters, we can tell them we will not be part of their obscene and deadly wars to garner power and wealth at the expense of others, we can tell them that our families, in fact all families all over the world mean more to us than all the power and money in the world.
Where I live in the USA we can join Black Lives Matter or Code Pink or BDS or Veterans For Peace or myriad other anti-war, pro law, pro freedom, pro human rights organizations.
I will do anything I can to help effect the end of this awful war in your country, anything that is except wave a flag to encourage the slaughter. That is what the gangsters want, they want us to wave flags. That is how they divide and control us, by encouraging the waving of flags, to create a smokescreen of enmity to blind us to our innate capacity to empathize with one another, while they plunder and rape our fragile planet. I will do everything in my power to help bring peace back to you and your family and your beautiful country. The long drawn-out war/insurgency that Hillary Clinton and Condoleezza Rice and the rest of the has been gangster Washington Hawks are encouraging is not in your nor Ukraine’s best interests.
I wish you well Alina. Thank you for your letter, and if you chose to send a reply to this. I will print that reply. I promise. Love R. PS. Have you got a dog? If so please send a pic.
OUR LONG BOI GOT MARRIED !!! 🥰🥰
"I’m so happy, finally a keeper."
Hopefully it does work out this time ! Regardless of things he might have done wrong in previous marriages, no-one deserves to go through four, let alone five divorces. I sincerely, genuinely hope he's finally found 'the one' and will be happy with her for the rest of his life.
Seriously, how optimistic & resilient is this man for not giving up on love, and even marriage, after so many failures ? (and so late in life !) I guess it goes to show that 'true love will find you in the end'.

Is true that Roger's got skin cancer?
Yep, he mentioned it in this interview : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MGCuHzDdNww about 3:12
It was a while ago though, so I don't know how he's doing now, or how long that stuff can last. he didn't seem to make a big deal out of it though, so... he's probably fine ?
