It’s been interesting year You all know that Of course I wonder what history will remember A hundred - - Two hundred Years from now I can guess But I can’t know What I can know is what it will not remember History will not care about the bird the cat brought in Will not know if it lived or died History will not care that I took it from the creature’s mouth And placed it first as high I could reach And second below the branches of its singing tree History will not care Why would it It doesn’t even care for people Only figures As it always has Please let me tell you something different That even tomorrow no one will care to know I found a small blue egg beneath a tree a second time this year The first, the fallen nest, I buried in the garden But second, only hours ago, I found an empty shell Its cargo safe and free and flown far away
