What if older!Ash was asked to become the next Viridian Gym Leader after Giovanni left it behind and Blue who toke it dies. Ash gets asked by the league in between his Unova and Kalos Adventures.

Ash, in good conscious and to his mental health, can not take the position. Refuses it without a few seconds passing.

Lance balks a little. Kinda thrown off his rhythm because he was 90% sure that Ash would jump at it. At the chance of being the gun leader of one of the most respected gyms in the world at this point.

Respected? Ash would ask with a hysterical laugh. He then informs Lance that everyone pities who ever owns that gym. From the secretly evil Team Rocket leader, who was Ash and Red’s dad, to Blue. Who was his Brother-In-Law who he loved just as much before Red and him started dating and who was killed by their father in that very gym. So no Ash can’t take it, refuses with more venom then he should really use in his words but Ash can’t take them back at the point. Having to make the statement clear that he’s not even stepping into that Arceus forsaken building unless it’s Lance’s body in it and it’s on fire.

Lance bows his head and thanks Ash for his time to be able to make the meeting. Asking him to take care of Yellow and Green who must be still devistated by the recent deaths. Turning his back on Ash who gets up and walks out the door only to sink back into the chair and face it away from the door. Head falling into his hands as he finally lets a few tears slip out before wiping them away and getting back to work. Grieving is done behind close bedroom doors in the wee hours in the morning, not at work when anyone can walk in on him.

more Older!Ash sketches. The Hat can be annoying to draw but I love non-verbal acting cues, and it’s too good a source/enhancer of that sort of thing, so gotta practice.

HC- he reflexively grabs his hat for a sec when surprised or excited enough, like what he’s feeling might knock his hat off his head :DD- also! adjusting the hat when it doesn’t need to be, is a small physical action he sometimes does on purpose when he’s trying to stay focus or composed (basically, it’s not something done consciously, but he likes to keep the style of wearing a hat, because over the years wearing one organically starts to serve the same purpose as a fidget maybe??)

No but imagine: Ash no matter what is stuck at the height of 5’05” and Leon is 6’ while Raihan is 6’8”

Now imagine Ash stealing both Raihans dragon sweatshirt while wearing Leon’s cap and giant as cape as a blanket with n o t h I n g else on. Both Galar boys would be a blushing mess and Ash has to threaten Raihan with actual physical death via pillow in the taller’s sleep if the taller posts any pictures of Ash like that.

Hay hot take, older ash acts/looks like a tired college student but is super buff -Dragon

That is actually how I Always right Older!Ash.

He constantly wears baggy sweaters and jackets because ComfortTM is key in your Champion outfit (plus he doesn’t want to fucking look like Wallace or Leon) and he’s also wearing sweats with big pockets.

Ash always has the biggest traveling mug full of super sweet coffee or a London (Hammerlocke??) Fog and is just squinting everywhere because he lost his glasses somewhere.

Events where Ash has to deal w/ a dress code don’t happen too often, but when they do - he has a nervous habit of taking his tie off “just for a bit” while pacing around only to immediately loose track of it completely. Pikachu has learned to quietly wait for whenever it inevitably gets set down somewhere and carry it himself till it’s needed. Normally, in times of calm, Ash knows how to tie his own tie decently, but under the pressure of- “Hey the thing is Starting! why aren’t you ready?!” that knowledge tends to temporarily go out the window, so again, Pikachu helps (lil hamham hands can’t tie it very neatly but it’s better than nothing :’3) (also - someone truly tried to make his hair ‘neat’ here, but no product known to science can really do that for more than 5 min so this is the best one can do)

idk much about animation programs/techniques, my best attempts are typically limited to turning layers on-off / sliding things around in Ps

decided to accept that fact and lean into it, by making a “sprite-pack” of sorts w/ Older!Ash, that I could maybe use for a crude sort of ‘puppet animation’ ?

I worked! The system of folders within folders I got going could probably be simpler/less work if I knew what I was doing but boy am I havin fun
