calling this a Family Sitcom AU because that’s kinda the basic premise , don’t worry it get funkier -
The idea is that Sock and Jon were in relationship while Sock was his haunter , eventually Meph found out about this and , shocker ; he didn’t like it . He reassigned Sock to someone new without giving him time to say goodbye and Sock begrudgingly went on to haunt other counterparts (with much better success honestly) . Meanwhile Jonathan continues living his life (upset about Sock’s disappearance but unable to do anything about it) and eventually meets a girl , gets married , has a kid , and then has to go through a messy divorce for //reasons// and raises Echo , his daughter , all on his own as a single father . About 20 years pass since Jonathan was Sock’s counterpart and Echo is 16 years old now , and either due to Meph’s ignorance or just a glitch , Sock gets assigned to ECHO . But ... the real kicker is that Jonathan can somehow still see Sock after all this time ... It’s a bit awkward of a reintroduction to say the least .
Things between everyone do get better EVENTUALLY . It’s just an odd situation and a classic slowburn -
