The subjects staring out from @benashtonart's canvases always seem to be slipping through the sands of time. This somewhat ghastly suggestion of their fates is exactly what makes each scene so compellingly creepy. The London-based artist achieves this effect by first digitally altering the images that he captures of his muses (and in many cases, himself) before committing them to canvas. He then artfully smears certain parts of the canvas, sometimes even using a very steady finger.
