Our pup broke my vase today. My mom asked if the flower in it was special to me. I said no, but the vase was. She asked who gave it to me. I said it was a long time ago.
My high school boyfriend had bought me orchids in a small vase and asked me to be his girlfriend Valentine’s Day 2019. I said no, but he gave me the flowers anyway. We eventually ended up dating for about four months. This was a very deep, formative time of my life. It has been a year since that time, but I wouldn’t part with the dead flowers. I saw them every day as they sat on my dresser as a reminder of that time.
About a week ago, while cleaning out my room, I held the flowers up to the trash as I reluctantly contemplated throwing them away. I couldn’t. So, I compromised. I threw out the dirt and dead flowers and decided I would nurture a new plant in the old vase.
Since then, I’ve had some of our beautiful flowers from outside in the old vase. Today, I noticed though that they actually weren’t looking too good. I don’t think they took root. I planned to come up with a new plan after finishing my schoolwork.
About an hour ago, I decided to let our new pupper into my room to roam around. She’s very cute. After picking everything up off the floor that I didn’t want her getting to, she took my vase off my windowsill and ran away with it. I chased her around the house and even down the stairs, all the while coming to terms with the fact that she was going to drop it.
