Okay, mk mk I’m gonna rant !! I usually don’t post rants, but let’s see where this goes 😭

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve always liked Oswald. (Haha see what i did there) anyways!

My dad owned a lot of DVDs, both official and knockoffs of classic cartoons from around the 1920s to the 1990s. Off topic but one of my all time favorites was Christmas Comes But Once a Year (1936). Anyways the DVDs had all kinds of short films, I can’t name them all, but I know for a fact a LOT of them were knockoffs. Still, they were good quality, so I didn’t care. C:

Oswald was in a few of those, and yeah, I thought he was cool, but I didn’t pay that much attention to him at the time. I was actually more obsessed with this one cartoon about a cat… I think it was Julius? I’m not 100% sure. I know for a fact it wasn’t Felix, because I was horrified of him as a kid 😭??

Most of those old DVDs got lost over the years, but here’s one I still own for proof!

Moving forward, I slowly started noticing Oswald being referenced more in media, and it always felt nostalgic to me. Around that time, I also came across a comic called Count Mickey Dragul by Twisted Wind. I didn’t pay much attention to it at first, but whenever I searched Oswald up, their art would always pop up.

I also started seeing Oswald in Mickey Mouse shorts and random animation memes (mostly art by pixel leaf) but again, I didn’t fully latch onto him yet. I loved him, just not enough at the time to deep dive into all the media.

Around this same time, something kinda important happened: someone stole my comfort rabbit plushie.

I used to take this rabbit plushie everywhere, to school, out in public, everywhere. I didn’t care if people judged me for bringing a plushie to school, because like… it’s my life? Why do you care? I brought her because she helped keep me calm.

One day, someone stole her.

Her name was Poppy!!

To fill that void, I decided to search up Oswald plushies. I found a few on eBay and asked my mom if I could get one. She said “maybe.”

Fast forward to Christmas… and instead of the plushie, I got an Oswald the Lucky Rabbit Funko Pop !! :3

I was a little sad I didn’t get the plushie, but the Funko was still cool. A few months later, I finally saved up enough money to buy the plushie myself and went to ask my mom about it again.

And she goes, “I did buy it for you, for Christmas.” (Like that but in Spanish lol)

I was so confused. I asked my sister, and she casually told me they bought it… but then lost the plushie. She said she left him in her closet but he’s probably gone forever and I should get over it lol.

I immediately tore apart my older sister’s closet, making a mess in the process, and finally found him shoved into her closet, buried under clothes and shoes.

I was so excited and happy in that moment. I think it was because he was a plushie… and a rabbit… just like the one I lost.

From that point on, I took him everywhere, to the mall, school, basically whenever I went out, ate, slept. I refused to let him out of my sight.

(I was later told this was a trauma response from losing Poppy.)

At school, I became “the Oswald plushie person” 😭 People thought I was a middle schooler because of it. Whenever someone mentioned my name, they’d say, “Oh, the Oswald person.” STILL TODAY WHEN I PEOPLE TALK ABOUT ME THEY SAY THAT. DUDE.

Side fun fact: when I went to my gradnite so many people texted me telling me Oswald was at the front, sending me photos of him and a lot of people took photos with him ONLY cuz they knew him from me 💀

When I got there the guy said “erm sorry…Oswald is closed” and then this dude looked at me and said “okay yk it’s fine…” and let me in the line! I got his autograph and took a lil photo with him :3 !! I was gonna show it but I’m too scared of being judged…

Anyways

Even when people called me immature, that plushie kept me calm and that mattered more to meeee!!

I still do this now, but I refuse to take him to college or out with friends because I’m terrified of losing him. HOWEVER every single time I go to some place Disney related, I ALWAYS take him with me. ALWAYS.

Anyways because of all this, I finally decided to give the Twisted Wind comic a real chance.

And yeah… I slowly became more obsessed.

A few months later, Disney did the Disney 100 event, and there was an entire section of Oswald merch. My family knew how much I loved that plushie, so they went out and bought me a bunch of it: a pillow, a shirt, another plushie, and more. I never took the tags off because it all felt too precious.

Then I craved more. More Oswald. More merch. (You probably remember this era, I think you even told me to stop a few times…jaja I didn’t)

I changed all my profiles to Oswald. All my wallpapers. I reread Oswald fan comics over and over again!

But never once did I want to check out Epic Mickey.

Why?

Because of his voice 💀

(Not valid. I know. I was immature. Bleh. I still barely know anything about it.)

People ask me today, “why don’t you get into it now that ur more mature?” Because I actually bought the game at GameStop for 80 bucks, and MY LITTLE SISTER LOST IT. I refuses to ever get into epic Mickey until I find that game, i want to play it, I want to get the feel of it. Plus wouldn’t it be messed for someone to buy a game just for them to watch videos about it instead? That seems a bit silly no? I don’t mind how long it’ll take, I am only playing it until I find it or someone buys me a new one.

Later on, my sister accidentally showed me a Japanese website where Oswald merch is way cheaper than eBay. Stuff that would be $40 on eBay would be like $5–$10 there. (This was way before tariffs, as much as I want to buy from this website again I can’t afford the $40 tariffs for a $10 item. Last time I did I ended up paying $70 in total…they refused to give me my Oswald merch until I paid the tariffs or else they would throw it out. ALSO I WOULDN’T EVEN GET A REFUND SO I DIDN’T HAVE A CHOICE. anyways here’s the plushie next to my fav Oswald plushie! It was so worth it cuz I was searching for this plushie for 5 years 😋 !! (Mostly cuz people would always sell this plushie for frickin 100 or 200 😭?? The website sold him for 30 and then. Tariffs MADE ME PAY MOREEE.

So I started buying merch whenever there was a good deal. Most of my Oswald stuff was $3–$20, and the most I’ve ever paid was $50, but that’s cuz I bought it at the Disney shop 😭

I even started decorating my walls with Oswald pictures, HOWEVER I’M NEVER SHOWING MY WHOLE WALL. I refuse to risk the original artist seeing it 😭 even if the chance is low, I don’t care. Too embarrassing. However I will show pictures of most of my merch! I actually own Oswald clothes but I’m too lazy to take it out from my closet,, just know I have 4 items of clothes in total :3

And yeah… that’s basically it.

I always have a hyperfixation on him, but sometimes I go private about it because I get embarrassed. Then I stop caring. Then the cycle repeats
