Chapter 1:
It's raining.
The feeling of droplets sliding into the gashes sting.
“Where was I again?”
You don't have an answer to that question, your legs keep moving, dragging your body with it, leaving a small trail of dark blood behind.
Unfortunately for you, during an intense fight with a brimmed cap, they cornered you into magical beast territory, opting for escape as you had gotten your information, only to be surrounded by beasts the moment you manage to lose the brimmed cap.
it was hardly a fair fight, there were more beasts that you could count on your fingers and toes, you had used up most of your spells fighting that wretched brimmed cap, you were lucky to get away unscathed, except you weren't so lucky when you felt claws dig into your left shoulder.
You had to keep your cover, pulling your cloak over your head as you trudge along. If the brimmed caps knew of your weakened state, they surely will come for revenge, as you had put 2 members behind bars and foiled more than enough of their plans.
The gash on your shoulder wasn't lethal, but it was enough to cause permanent damage, it'll definitely scar a nasty scar too. If left untreated you'll probably lose enough blood and pass out on some road or even a ditch.
The only place you could think of without alerting the authorities was your dear old friend's atelier. Qifrey started his atelier 4 years back, he had reminded you back then that you were always welcome because “his home is your home” or whatever he meant.
Imagine his surprise when you came knocking at his door late early in the morning, and promptly passed out in front of poor Agott who was the one to have opened the door.
You wake up on a couch, the adrenaline has long faded from your system. The pain radiating off your left shoulder made you double over before you even properly sat up, gritting your teeth you use your right arm and managed to prop yourself up. You look around taking in your surroundings, stone walls, a fire crackling in the hearth. Standing up with difficulty as you make your way to a hallway, you realize that your left arm was bandaged neatly, “must've been Qifrey's work,” you thought, making a note that you'll need to thank him.
As you round a corner you see Agott practicing her seals at a desk,
“Agott? Do you know where Qifrey is?”
“He's out on a mission he is supposed to be back today.” Agott said, her eyes not leaving the squire in her hands.
“I see, then you must've bandaged me, thank you for the help, here I'll help you with what you're working on.”
You shuffle into the seat next to her, peering over you see many crumpled half completed casting seals, you point out mistakes that she made and give suggestions on what to improve on.
The other two girls come down from their beds eventually, “Good morning! Professor (Y/N) You're awake! You've been asleep since yesterday morning.”
“I figured as much, good morning to you two, let's get us something to eat, shall we?” you stood from the chair and padded to the kitchen. It looked just about the same as it did the last time you were here, just some new pots and utensils.
You hear the door swing open in the other room, a tall pointed figure comes in guiding a smaller figure.
It's Qifrey.
The next moments are a blur, you only really caught the words, Coco, apprentice, and forbidden magic. Coco goes to get settled down as you and Qifrey finally get to have a conversation.
“Those wretched brimmed caps, they purposefully lead me to the magic beast territory to keep me busy,” You sneered, “ They got more than what they wanted, they know ive escaped but they don't know im injured."
“You should stay here until you're healed, you've been hunting them down as soon as you passed the last test, it's been 4 years.” Qifrey spoke softly, his eyes boring into yours, you look away.
“The moment they figure out I'm injured they'll try to come after me, I've been a thorn in their side for years, aren't you worried?”
“No, they won't find you here, I'll make sure they don't, stay here for now alright?” Qifrey's eyes never leaving your face.
“Fine only until I'm healed,” You turn back towards Qifrey, his eyes gives you chills, “ why do you keep staring at me?”
“To see if you're lying or not, you've always been easy to read ever since we were kids.”
Rolling your eyes you walk away. He smiles at your fading figure.
His eyes have bothered you since that night, looking back into those blue eyes means falling into something you shouldn't. He is the 2nd reason why you stopped drinking completely.
I’ve fallen in love with this anime. Absolutely love these two characters relationship so far. Of course I had to do a sun and moon based drawing of them!
