I feel you sister. You just expressed everything I am wrangling with in my head right now.
I'm just getting angrier about this shit as I sit here and think about it. I'm so fucking tired of Oliver acting like this is HIS crusade, HIS risk, and that the others are there at HIS discretion, like sidekicks. And then the show leaves that assertion unchallenged, completely undermining the much-vaunted "Team Arrow" and revealing it as basically just "Arrow and support staff."
This is not HIS MISSION. He is not the only one who is invested, who cares, and he's not the only one who gets to make decisions. I swear to god, if we're being true to the characters, Oliver could cut and run like a shit again and Diggle and Felicity and Roy would still carry on with their organized vigilantism BECAUSE THIS IS THEIR CITY AND THEIR MISSION. But I no longer trust the actual show to hold true to that, because they keep validating this nonsense idea that Oliver isn't just the leader, he's the Master and Commander and everyone jumps when he says or gets mowed down, and that's never what Diggle or Felicity have been with him and it's not something I want to watch this team become.
It's their lives, too, and their choices, and those choices are valid. And having Diggle do a complete 180 at the birth of his daughter is one thing stretching credulity already, but to have him blanket forgive Oliver and tell him he was completely in the right?
Complete and utter bullshit; the Diggle that's been on my screen for two years would have, if he'd truly come to agree with Oliver's point, still made sure to read Oliver his fucking rights about trying to dictate anyone's choices to them, and how that's not acceptable under any circumstances.
I just. I feel like I just watched an episode where the script got swapped out with crappy fanfiction.
