YAY! During Swery’s AMA  I was able to get a definitive answer about Olivia’s shadowy past mentioned on her trading card description...

There is none it’s just a translation error...she’s just a pessimist sometimes lol

This bugged me for years since I couldn’t find any evidence in-game that Olivia had a dark past :)

Olivia

God I love Olivia. Olivia got married when she was quite young, about twenty-two maybe at most, and struggles to have a sense of identity outside of her married life. It doesn’t help that it’s also her work. She’s shy, so she’s ended up in a place where she has very few friends, certainly no-one she’s especially close with. Her job is also demanding and tiring, so she hasn’t got much energy for hobbies. A big part of why she wants to hold onto Nick so badly is that she realises she has no life outside of him and the idea of starting over in her mid thirties is terrifying. She also seems to think that she’s stupid and / or uncultured, so she must think that she won’t be able to move onto anything else, either, and that she doesn’t deserve it. Poor Olivia.
