Supportive Buddies
This year I will commit to the mentorship action of knowing what I know and being open to what I don't know. It is important to be open to learning from others. I am volunteering as a TA for the BAC NOMAS and Sasaki Foundation and will use this ideas to create a better environment for students to learn.
A encouraging mentor
A good mentor is someone who is passionate about their work and encourage and support their mentees. They are caring and compassionate. They make sure to listen and guide you. Brenna has been a great mentor over the last week. She has introduced us to the DCAMM family. She has gone out of her way to much sure we felt included in all of our activities and meetings. She encouraged to ask questions even if they were small questions such as clarification over a term.
Today Brenna took us to tour of the Shattuck Hospital. We were able to see an active construction site and see all that can go wrong during the construction phase. Also, it was interesting to learn about how complicated it is to design a hospital especially one that has to work for three different departments. Also, it was interesting to here about how public construction projects are sent out to bid.
It looks like teamwork
At DCAMM intercultural competence is being practiced. Intercultural competence is about all different people from different backgrounds and cultures coming together to create a safe and inclusive work environment. At DCAMM everyone is kind to each other and willing to here other people's perspectives.
Today we were able to attend a high visibility meeting with people from the various departments and the commissioner. They all presented on different projects they were currently working on. The atmosphere was relaxed and professional. From watching them interact they all respect each other. They were joking around with each other and engaged with what one another was saying.
Workplace Life
At DCAMM, they have a hybrid office setup, so many employees don't come in on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The busiest days in the office are Tuesdays and Thursdays. We started the day with an introduction to DCAMM, followed by a tour of the office. We met people from three different departments. They were all really friendly and encouraged us to ask questions. They also mentioned that we could reach out to them anytime throughout the week. Additionally, we got to tour the State House and had a behind-the-scenes look at the building.
Olivia has literally been obsessed with him since 2015 and has been really weird about it knowing he was married. Idk man, she seems really unhinged and like she’s taking advantage of someone in a difficult place.
I don’t know her like that but I will say at the end of the day it takes two to tango
I feel this so hard
