Saving Fred || Personal
Mac and Mia went by cab to the address that Olivia provided. Sometimes during the cab ride, her brain started nagging her. Olivia, Freddie. Why did that sound familiar? She recalled a conversation with a drunken fellow on a swingset after Ana’s party. She realized this was probably the bloke. He’d mentioned Olivia in their conversation. She’d been pretty pissed on whiskey and pills do that that night which seemed years ago. So much had happened. No one could blame her for not putting it together when Olivia called at the most inopportune moments.
She looked at Mia whose head was on her shoulder. She couldn’t believe Mia was still by her side. Mac had cheated on her. Luke had threatened her. And here she sat. With me. I don’t deserve it. Not at all. But damn if I don’t want her. Who would have thought? The cab ride wasn’t too long. She’d told Mia to stay with the cab and the bags. Mia was about to protest but Mac was insistent. She argued that if all was ok, then it would be in and out. If it wasn’t, then she wanted someone watching her back and nodded in Mia’s direction. Then she said to Mia they would go to her place to pick up some clothes so they could run away. And it was up to Mia to choose where. Mac smiled and kissed Mia quickly.
Mac got out of the car and entered the building after looking around to make sure no one was waiting or watching. She looked at the flat numbers and found the one. She found the front door open and knew something wasn’t exactly right. The guy she met was a bit of a stoner and unkept so it could have been likely he’d dropped the phone in the toilet or down the stairs or something, but an open door. Not good. Her hand was on her gun in her waistband. She stepped in and called his name. No answer.
She saw him on the ground and leapt over to him and checked for a pulse while scanning around to see if anyone was lurking. She looked him over and he was a right mess. Fuck. She pulled out her phone and dialed the emergency number. She tried to sound frenzied and panicked at finding her neighbor in a pool of blood. No she wouldn’t give her name. No she wasn’t waiting around. She feared the gunman was in the area. She decided to make things sound worse that necessary. It got people moving faster.
Mac made sure Freddie was breathing and his head was turned so he wouldn’t choke on blood while waiting for emergency services to show up. She looked up at the wall and saw the blood there. Someone drew the name Effy and a heart. What the fuck? Effy? The tattoo girl? It didn’t feel right. She wasn’t waiting for fear of getting caught up in something. Olivia had wanted her to stick around in case Freddie was scared but he was out. She didn’t think he’d be waking up any time soon either. She needed to text Olivia. Before she left, she took another look around. Whoever did this was angry.
She ran out of the building as she heard the sirens. Tim drove off in the direction of Mia’s place, Mac assumed. She looked at Mia and didn’t say anything. She kissed her instead. That could have been her. Or worse. I can’t have that. Ever.

Why was Josh spending so many hours in pubs when he could stay at Ston Eaton drinking peacefully with the boys? Right, he was ashamed of himself and was not in the mood to be laying on a bloody couch, hearing lectures. He really appreciated how caring all were but he didn’t want it or need it now. Maybe that was the reason, plus some alcohol wouldn’t hurt. No, it actually would, but he was craving it after he realized what he had turned his life into.
He found himself in some place he had been a couple of times before, and order a beer, something not too strong. He was sitting by the bar since all the other tables were occupied and it didn’t bother him, just the fact he needed to change his weight to just one leg. There were visible bruises on his face still but he was more concerned about other stuff. He wondered how Louie was doing, but figured he was fine, the man was used to beat the shit out of people without remorse. Anyways, Josh nodded to the bartender and took his pint, taking a huge sip from it when he nearly tossed a girl’s drink out of the counter. “Shit… I’m sorry.” He did his best to save the glass but all the liquid spilled. He huffed since now his suit coat was dry, but it was his fault. “I’ll buy you another one, I’m really sorry.”

His new apartment was scarcely furnished. It was more as if he were moving out rather than living in the one bedroom flat. Renting the apartment was the first sign of commitment Keegan had ever shown. Even if he hadn’t gone about the procedure legally. The landlord would still get his money, in cash and no real names necessary. Bristol was feeling more like home everyday. Not that he ever had a home to compare it to. He even considered going to visit his parents on death row. If that was possible? Keegan knew that dream was short lived. Going to the prison meant having an ID and giving up who he was. Which was something he wasn’t ready to do.
Food. That was a necessity in his new place. Something he didn’t have besides the take out containers piling up in the waste bin. With his burner phone in his pocket, and his gun on his hip Keegan left the apartment while the sun was going down. He was nowhere near tired. Keegan prefered to travel at night. It was easier for him to stick to the shadows that way.
