You tossed and turned in the bed. Rose was once again, throwing her own little party in your stomach while you were trying to sleep. On top of her constant kicking, she was moving lower. You tried to sit up and sighed, having to use the bathroom once again. You couldn’t even sit up on you own. Harry placed his hand on your back and helped you out of bed. You slid on your slippers, mumbling a thank you.
“You sleep well, peach?” His voice was groggy and raspy.
“What do you think?” You called from the bathroom. He chuckled as he walked into the bathroom to brush his teeth.
“Someone’s grumpy. Want me to make you that strawberry-pineapple smoothie you like?” He kept brushing his teeth and slid away from the sink so you could wash your hands.
“Yes please-.” You groaned and clutched your stomach. Fear automatically flashed in Harry’s eyes as he tried to help you stand straight. This being your first pregnancy, all of the movement was confusing and a bit scary at times. “I’m fine, she’s just moving around a bit. Do we really have to go to that wedding later?”
“Yes, Y/N. It’s my cousin’s wedding, our mums practically raised us together. I’d be a prick to not show up.”
“Okay, I’m sorry. It’s just, I’m eight months pregnant. I’m really uncomfortable, I don’t want to be around so many people.” You wined and walked out of the bathroom.
“Babe, we already sent our RSVP.”
“Okay, fine. But you’re making it up to me later.” You winked and planted a kiss on his lips.
As pretty as your dress was and as much as Harry told you “Everything will be fine”, you couldn’t help but feel like it wouldn’t be. You felt like the walls of Anne’s home were closing in you (probably because of the amount of people in the small house). As much as you loved Harry’s family, you wanted to leave.
“There you are, I’ve been looking for you!” Gemma’s voice called. Rose gave another hard kick to your stomach.
“Hey, Gem-.” You gasped loudly as you felt a sharp pain. A few family members stopped as they looked over at you. It was much worse than anything you felt this morning.
“Everything okay? Come on.” You grabbed onto Gemma’s arm with the one that wasn’t holding your stomach.
Harry was nowhere in sight which made things even worse. A few aunts and cousins stopped to ask if everything was okay. You didn’t want to come to the wedding in the first place. Who has a backyard wedding towards the end of fall? Now it was apparent that Rose felt the same way.
Gemma led you up to her old room, slowly closing the door behind you. Since Gemma was one of your best friends (even before you met Harry), she had gone to every doctor’s appointment. She always made sure you were okay and had already started buying things for the baby.
You sat on the edge of the bed, letting out deep breaths. Something about these kicks and pains were different from the ones you felt earlier that morning. They were stronger and more intense, they also came a lot faster than the did that morning. Tears welled up in your eyes at the pain. Fearing that you were going into labor.
“Y/N, stand up so I can unzip your dress.” Gemma softly said while helping you up. “Y/N, did your water break?”
Harry sighed as he passed another faceless family member. Most of them he didn’t even know. He figured that they were the Bride’s family and not his own. He lost you fifteen minutes earlier while talking to his grandfather. There were too many people for him to recognize your white flowery dress and distinct baby bump.
“Harry!” His mother yelled as she came down the stairs. She quickly ran to him and grabbed his hand, dragging him up the stairs with her. “I think Y/N’s gone into labor, I sent your aunt Carol upstairs to go check but I don’t know.”
You sat up slowly once Carol was done looking at you, slightly embarrassed due to the fact that she had to check if you were going into labor or not (meaning she had to take a peek downstairs..). Harry walked into the room, eyebrows scrunched together in confusion.
“Why am I hearing that you’re going into labour? Harry laughed nervously as he came to your side. “I thought I told you to keep that baby in until-.”
“Harry Edward!” Anne screamed.
You laughed lightly as you smoothed out your shirt. Harry’s hand rubbed your large bump. The pain didn’t stop, but it seemingly faded at his hand. His hands seeming to make the pain go away. Carol gave you a small smile and took a deep breath. It was your first time meeting the women and she had already seen more than Harry did in the first few months of your relationship.
“You’re not going into labor, those aren’t contractions. They’re braxton hicks. They’re completely normal, they help get more blood flow to the placenta and soften the cervix. It means you’re doing too much. When’s the last time you two had a day in?”
Your eyes darted to Harry. “We’ve been busy-.”
“That’s no excuse.” She shook her head and covered your legs with the blanket. “You can’t stretch yourself too thin, especially now that you’re pregnant. It’s bad for mummy and for baby.”
Anne slapped the back of Harry’s head. “What have you got her doing here? She needs to be at home sleeping in your bed. You two are staying here tonight. Y/N, you’re not leaving the bed. Harry, be the amazing father and husband I raised you to be.”
Anne was serious about you two not leaving and you not leaving the bed. She moved a TV into the guest room and left you bottles of water. Apparently staying hydrated would help the false contractions go away. Harry laid beside you, holding his beats so that the ear parts were on either side of your bump.
“What’s she listening to?” You asked as you looked up from a Friends rerun.
Harry chuckled as he looked at his phone. “Small bump. Didn’t even plan that one.” He rubbed your stomach softly and looked into your eyes. “I’m sorry I pushed you to do too much, love. We should’ve stayed home when you said you weren’t feelin’ well.”
“It’s okay, Peach.” You smiled and rubbed his hair. “I read some stuff online on how to stop the pains, s’little cheeky.” You giggled and crawled into his lap.
He placed his hands on your hips and kissed your lips. “Don’t worry, baby. I know what you mean.”
