Oh, so I was thinking about the Scott Pilgrim AU at work and I think the main reason Twig broke up with Hazel is because he realized Oliver was crushing on her.
Twig and Hazel were best friends and then they started dating. Twig wanted to introduce her to Oliver because he was not only his friend but his roommate so he wanted them to get along. They clicked instantly! Oliver was always in a happy mood around her and Twig started to notice whenever he would flirt with her Oliver would make an excuse to leave.
Twig when alone with Oliver "Soo, what do you think of Hazel?"
Oliver "She's amazing! I feel so happy around her and when she smiles or laughs it's just...beautiful. I can't believe someone as kind, gentle, cute and talented like her exists."
Twig "You love her don't you?"
Oliver spit his drink "Wha--no? I mean that's ridiculous! You're dating her and......I'm sorry....I'm a bad friend." He covers his face from embarrassment and worry of what Twig thinks.
I also thought of how Oliver would confess!
I remembered Gabby mentioning something about how Oliver can't swim in a reply for this.
It made me think after the whole breakup with Twig, Hazel spends a lil more time with Oliver. He makes her forget about being sad. Even though Twig and her agreed they would still be friends.
Anyways, her hat flys into the water and Hazel who was happy a few moments ago looks sad. She sighs "Oh well, I guess I could get another...hat? OLIVER?!" She screams after he jumps in after her hat. He manages to grab it before sinking. He wakes up next to Hazel who saved him. He lifts his arm "Got it."
Hazel "What were you thinking!? It's just a hat! I could get a new one but...I can't get a new you! You could have died!"
Oliver sitting there quietly then suddenly "It's my fault, Hazel! I'm the reason Twig broke up with you!"
Hazel look at him bewildered "What?"
Oliver covering his face "I feel lightheaded whenever I'm around you and I feel like I could do anything if you're next to me...well, almost anything." He looks at her "I-I love you, Hazel. I know I can't replace Twig but I want to be with you forever...even if you don't feel the same about me..."
Hazel teary eyed "Oliver..."
Oliver panic "Oh no! I made you cry! Please just forget about it! I don't want you to feel sad!"
