17 without a purpose or direction Chapter 3: The Party
Link to second chapter
Parties at Bullworth were not an uncommon occurrence. They usually involved a lot of alcohol, and drama, amongst the tomfoolery and teenage shenanigans. Tonight the jocks were throwing a party at Damon's house in Old Bullworth Vale, and the whole school was talking about it. Except the nerdier part of the student body. There was no way they would be welcome, unless someone else brought them.
Beatrice longed to experience it, but who would take her? Nobody. She walked past the fountain and towards the Library when she saw him. Gary Smith was a bad boy, a sad bad boy, maybe one sad enough to take a nerd like her to a jock party.
“Hey Gary,” Beatrice said, pushing her glasses further up her nose. Gary jumped and turned around to face her.
“Oh, hi,” he replied, looking a bit confused “What do you want?”
“Um,” Beatrice took a deep breath bracing herself for what she was about to say. “I was wondering if you could possibly um…”
“Possibly what?” Gary cocked his head.
“Take me to the party the jocks are having?” She gulped.
“Oh,” Gary looked more shocked than anything else. “Uh okay.”
“Really? Because I know you probably have so many girls wanting you to take them.” Gary crossed his arms trying to project an air of confidence.
“Well obviously,” he replied very clearly lying. Awww Beatrice thought. He's Lonely.
“So um, see you tonight then?”
“Yeah ok, I’ll pick you up at your dorm.”
“Sounds good,” Beatrice smiled, and skipped away, suddenly not as upset anymore.
—
When Jimmy opened the door the scent of cigarette smoke, and alcohol assaulted his nostrils. Yup he was definitely in the right place.
“Hey Jimmy,” he heard his girlfriend’s voice shout over the noise.
“Hey Zoe, he grinned, as she bounces over to him, shaking the floor with her clompy boots. She giggled, and practically made out with cheek.
“Guess what?” She laughed, wiping her mouth.
“What?”
She giggled before replying “I got some edibles and tricked Tad Spencer to take one, he’s high as a kite.” Jimmy grinned, trying to put his arm around her shoulders which was a bit of a struggle so he opted for her waist instead.
“Yeah? You saved any for me?”
“Well duh,” Zoe rolled her eyes. “Come on.” Zoe grabbed his hand, and Jimmy laughed following her into the throng.
—
Johnny was leaning against a wall, cigarette in his mouth, holding a red solo cup, Lola hanging off his arm. Tad Spencer came up to them, stoned out of his mind. He giggles, leaning on Johnny, and Johnny moves his arm away. Tad catches his balance before speaking, fake accent entirely dropped.
“Y’know Lola I think I went out with you due to the fact that I'm very much sad and alone,” he giggles again “you're not that good of a kisser.” Lola practically clutched her pearls while Johnny rolled his eyes.
“Johnny, why don't you shut him up? You're so strong,” Lola whispered, and Johnny shook his head.
“Lola I don't do that anymore I’m not getting sent back to the asylum.”
“My brother is in an asylum,” Tad piped up, and Johnny ignored him. Lola let go over Johnny’s arm, crossing her arms and stomping her foot.
“Ugh Johnny you never fight for me anymore, it's like you don't even care about us.” She stormed off, while Johnny sighed, taking another puff from his cigarette.
“Well she seems angry,” the prep mused.
—
Gary gulped as he entered the party, Beatrice on his arm. She actually cleaned up really nice. She had on deep red lipstick, a red off the shoulder evening dress, and had curled her hair. The problem was that even though Gary would never admit it, he had never been on a date before. Hell he had never so much as held hands with anyone.
They made their way into the crowd of sweaty drunk teenagers. Damon's house was pretty nice for a jock, he would have expected it to belong to one of the preppies. He barely dodged a projectile bag of Doritos Kirby had tossed to Casey, as he headed to the refreshments. Jesus Christ, someone was gonna die at this party.
—
It was a stupid idea. Bo had suggested it, which made Kirby pissed at him though he didn’t show it. Instead he laughed and went along with it, besides if he opted out, the guys would call him a wimp. So here he was sitting in a group of mostly guys playing a game of spin the bottle. Who would expect any less from the Bullworth kids?
Since it was Bo’s idea he went first landing on Ricky. All the jocks oohed because he was kissing a guy even though it was 90% guys playing. Then everyone started chanting “do it” before the greaser grabbed his face and kissed him with tongue for about 6 seconds. Everyone wolf whistled as they pulled away from each other while Gord giggled like a middle schooler.
Ricky landed on Jimmy who landed on Gord who landed on Vance who landed on Mandy who then landed on Pete. Mandy kissed him on the cheek and everyone booed while Mandy rolled her eyes. Pete spun and it landed on Beatrice, she giggled and she and Pete kissed a bit too long. Beatrice landed on Trent and Kirby tried not to look mad. They kissed about the same amount as everyone else, and maybe it was jealousy talking, or the large amount of alcohol in his system but Kirby would not let him get away with this. So when Trent spun Kirby he did something stupid. Kirby kissed him, like actually kissed him with more passion he knew he had in him. Trent was shocked but immediately returned it ,and soon they were just straight up making out.
“Ok guys enough,” Ted said, but they didn't hear him. “GUYS!” They heard him that time and quickly pulled away from each other. “God you’d think you guys were actually gay or something.” Dan giggled at that, and Kirby looked at him in horror. Oh fuck he knows.
“Dan you’re coming with me,” Kirby grabbed Dan’s arm and dragged him away from the group.
“Hey dude where are you going?” Casey yelled “You still have to spin.”
“You can take it for me, unless you’re chicken.” Kirby yelled at him and ran off, and could barely make out Casey groaning.
—
Gord was having the time of his life, he was drinking alcohol (cheap alcohol granted) with a cute little plastic straw, and kissing the very appealing boys of Bullworth. Honestly he should attend non-prep parties more often. Just then Asleep At The Wheel by Bloodhound Gang started playing.
“Oh shit this song rocks dude.” Vance said, and stood up, and reached a hand out to Gord. “Care to join me rich boy?” Vance smiled cutely and honestly how could Gord refuse? It wasn’t the most romantic song to dance to due to the nature of the lyrics but it was fun, both Gord and Vance enjoying themselves immensely. Gord was very glad that his friends would probably all be too black out drunk to remember this, but Gord knew he would remember (due to the fact he would make sure to write it down in his diary later). Right now Gord for once forgot about social stigma, forgot about being rude or snobby, he was just being.
—
Dan knew he was in for an earful when Kirby had dragged him away from the guys, and up to one of the West family’s guest rooms. Kirby slammed the door and rounded on his best friend.
“Ok dude, what the fuck, how the fuck do you know?” Kirby whisper shouted, although honestly Dan didn’t see the need due to how loud the music was at the moment, even from upstairs.
“Dude are you fucking with me? It’s so obvious you and Trent are always sneaking around with each other, I wouldn’t be surprised if I wasn’t the only person who knew.” Dan replied, looking at a painting on the wall. Jesus Christ how much money did Damon's family have? That painting was not the kind of shit you’d get at Hobby Lobby.
“Wait, are you serious?!” his best friend’s panicked voice interrupted Dan’s thoughts. “So like the nerds could know everything, and be plotting some secret plot to expose us right now?” Kirby ran a hand through his hair, pupils dilated. Dan couldn’t tell if it was from alcohol or anxiousness. Probably both.
“Ok slow down,” Dan began putting his hands on Kirby’s shoulders, “First of all knowing the nerds they suck at picking up those kind of clues so you’re probably in the clear, also even if the nerds are hatching some plot against you like that we’ll just beat em up kay?”
“Kay.” Dan let go of his friend’s shoulders.
“Do you wanna go back to the party?” Dan asked calmly.
“Can we just go back to the dorm? I'm really tired.”
“Ok sure man”
“Thanks”
“Of course”
Notes: This chapter was partly inspired by the party episode of Freaks and Geeks also I really wanted to throw in a few references to the fact that damon was originally intended to be a prep
Chapter 4 Snippet: “Holy shit,” Johnny smirked. Hal turned around. “You,” Johnny gestured to Hal with his thumb, “totally dig her.” Johnny gestured at Eunice with the index and middle fingers on his other hand, as Hal just stared at him.
