We were so happy last night to be back at The Old Place. Ran into our friend and local legend Alfie at the bar. Alfie is a Vietnam vet and has lost his home twice in forest fires. Most recently a few weeks ago in the Woolsey fire. Despite all the tough eperiences he’s had in his life he remains a positive force in the mountain community and we feel fortunate to call him a friend. He said the week after the 1978 fire he headed down to the Old Place to have a steak just like we did with him last night. Guess its time for us to eat up and start rebuilding. Cheers Alfie.
