Historic Cressman's General Store has been in operation since 1904. Originally serving those working in the booming logging industry, Cressman's was the half-way point in a long journey that began on the central valley floor and ended at approximately 9,000 feet elevation. Logging teams, powered by either horse, mule, or ox, would take advantage of the flat area at Cressman's to rest and water their teams before continuing up the mountain into the Sierra Nevada. Unfortunately, Cressman’s was destroyed in the Creek Fire and the owners plan to rebuild. I took a drive up to Shaver Lake yesterday to witness the heartbreaking destruction this wildfire has caused. The magnitude of devastation seems immeasurable. It has to be seen, to be believed. These pictures were taken by fire crews a few days before the tragedy. #cressmansgeneralstore #shaverlakecalifornia #creekfire2020 #mountainstrong (at Cressman's General Store and Gas Station) https://www.instagram.com/p/CHn0WwUglDNk83oENL5Fmy5mT9ZycFRa_dkkW00/?igshid=185wp0j2zc9y0
