Wanted Connections

(Note: I wrote these a little differently than I normally do because I like making my life more complicated than I need to, I guess. Obviously these are all very general and if you like a connection, but there is a part of the description that doesn’t ring true, we can discuss it and tailor fit it for your character.)

I Know What You Did Last Summer: You’ve noticed that there is something “off” about Kassandra. You might not realize what that is exactly or you could have noticed the flash of a look on her face as she pried information from someone’s lips. You know something is wrong and you are determined to get to the bottom of it, whether she tells you or not.

Kass knows that you are snooping around into something they have no business in and will do anything possible to get them off of her scent. (2/4)

Face/Off: You saw the darkness inside of Kassandra, whether through personal experience or just being in the right place at the right time. You might be accepting of her odd bloodlust, incredibly creeped out, or you just don’t care. Either way, you know and Kassandra knows that you know.

Depending on their reaction, this is either Kass’ best friend or greatest enemy. Anyone who knows who she truly is is technically a loose end in her mind and if she doesn’t already fully trust you, then she will make it known that she won’t let this secret be revealed to anyone. Dirty Dancing: You know she’s attractive. She knows you’re attractive. Might as well have sex.

Relationships aren’t Kass’ forte and when possible, she will forgo them for fun and mindless sex. Whether it simply be friends with benefits or just a random one night stand, she will take any opportunity that is tossed her direction.

Mortal Kombat: You’re something of a regular for her. For one reason or another you always end up at her doorstep nursing yet another injury for her to heal up. You might sense that she is annoyed with you for always bothering her, but that never stops her from making sure you are in one piece when it’s time for you to leave.

Kass is never really surprised when they knock at her door at any odd hour, but she is irritated that they keep getting injured so consistently. She feels that she really needs to instill in them that they need to be more careful, if only so she could get a couple of hours of uninterrupted sleep at night. (0/1)

Masters of the Universe: You appreciate that Kassandra is neutral in this conflict, but you really wish she was on your side. You may have heard of the more personal work that she did with Harvey, or maybe you just recognize her for the gifted physician that she is.

Kass doesn’t care about sides. A part of her feels stifled by not having the constant stream of people for her to work on like when she was Olympus and she does yearn for that kind of normalcy within the two group gangs. But she also values her freedom too much to give into any one group. She’ll hear them out, but plans to keep her options open. 

Road House: You get having parents who are kinda the worst. You may have had a worse situation than Kassandra and think she's making a big deal out of nothing, or you might have had similarly overbearing parents and relate. Either way, there's at least a bit of understanding between the two.

(Unlike the other ones, Kass' opinion is very dependent on the person's history. We can discuss this more if you wish to take this connection)

Point Break: You met her when Kassandra was a fresh faced medical student hopping off the plane from Los Angeles. You helped her settle in and have struck a close friendship ever since. A lot has changed since their first meeting, but you are trying to maintain this friendship.

Kass genuinely likes them and that’s more than most people can say. She swears that she didn’t need help getting used to the lifestyle in New York, that she was always meant to be there, but they know that she needed help getting on the right subway and what places to avoid if you’re not a fan of food poisoning. The Room: You knew that she didn’t want anything serious, but that didn’t stop you from developing a crush anyway. You’re not sure what Kassandra would do if you were to tell her how you feel and you get the sense it might be best if you kept it a secret, despite how much you want to tell her.

Depending on the individual, Kass might get a sense of this person’s crush or be completely oblivious of it. If she’s aware of it, she will most likely try to use it to her advantage, otherwise, she just appreciates that someone is willing to do what she might want. (0/1)

Plan 9 From Outer Space: You’re smart. Maybe not as smart as Kassandra says she is, but definitely more clever than she may think you are. You’ve met or heard of people like her before; those who are high on their own superior intellect. Kassandra is just another smart kid who was given an inflated sense of ego.

They’re okay. Kass doesn’t care for them personally, but she can’t deny that they are smart, maybe even smart enough to see through her carefully planned schemes. Overall, she doesn’t think much of them, but that doesn’t stop her from ensuring that they aren’t on her tail before planning her next moves. (0/1) 

Troll 2: You share her love for “so bad it’s good” movies and you’ve been friends ever since.

This relationship has always been easy for Kass and she tends to use it as a distraction from whatever she is dealing with. Whether it be watching the movie together with a bowl of popcorn or spending an unfortunate amount of time discussing and quoting it, it is guaranteed to be a fun time for both of them.

WANTED CONNECTIONS (Comic Sans)

Obviously, this is not a completed list and other connections can and have already been negotiated. Many of these connections have likely been established after Jason’s addiction, but anything can be changed to whatever suits the both of our characters. As a side note, Jason was a part of Olympus since he was 20 and left shortly after Rafael’s death/Poseidon and Hades’ departure from Olympus (AKA nearly two years ago), just for a time frame reference.

the confidante - since his addiction and his actions while under the influence really took a toll on some of his friendships, jason is in need of someone who can empathize (or pretend to empathize) with him about his choices and the things he’s done along with some of the things he thinks he’s responsible for. they’re likely one of his closest friends and someone who he reached out to after he decided to try to get sober. // open to all.

the manipulator - on the same spectrum, jason trusts anyone who’s kind to him which makes him easily manipulated and swayed. though there’s really no reason why anyone would really want to manipulate him as he’s pretty useless right now, your character can make up their own reasons. basically, just have fun with him because he’s dumb and thinks everyone only wants the best for him. // taken.

the annoyance - this is someone who jason has never been able to convince to like him. whether it was the constant smile on his face and eagerness to please when harvey was alive, his party boy ways after harvey, or his current reserved and apologetic self, there’s something that never quite clicked with these two. so instead of trying to convince them to like him now, he constantly antagonizes them every chance he gets now. // taken. (please don’t kill him)

the former flame - whether or not it was serious or just a casual fling for your character is up to you, but the jason from before had decided that he would’ve liked to spend the rest of his life with them. however, his immaturity prior to all of this didn’t allow him to confess that to them. they likely left him in the midst of his addiction, because he was a terrible person who said and did terrible things while high and all jason wants to do is apologize... and maybe more, but he wouldn’t admit it. // taken.

the partner in crime - this is his new best friend, someone who he’s nearly been attached to the hip to since his sobriety. sometimes they’ll get up to no good, sometimes they’ll just hang out at either of their places while jason writes a song for them to listen to. they don’t talk about serious things, but really enjoy each other’s company regardless of how surface level their bond is. // taken.

the fling - it’s likely very brand new, jason doesn’t really consider it to be anything serious, but they have fun and it’s the first time he’s been able to laugh and be carefree for a long time. he’s grateful for them, it’s the healthiest pseudo relationship he’s ever had. it could get deeper or it can just stay like this too. // open to all.

the enabler - this is someone, for whatever reason, that liked the previous jason better than this one. they want to tempt him back to his old ways, to have their old party boy apollo back, to convince him that life is better when he doesn’t have to feel all the things that weigh him down. they probably don’t realize how much he spiraled and how he nearly died as he doesn’t talk about that part of his life. // taken.

platonic;

- rosalyn is a bit rough around the edges, a smart mouth and a temper rubbing people the wrong way most of the time. but this person is the one person that she becomes absolutely soft around. she’s gentle and caring and would do literally Anything for this person. sometimes she’s not afraid to be vulnerable around this person, other times she’s even more afraid to be vulnerable because she just really cares about this person a lot!!!  - she likes physical fights as a way to release tension or blow off steam, and this could be a person that she’ll routinely spar with, and only rub it in a little when she kicks their ass. - someone that she either used to get high with, or is still getting high with. she’s dealing with a drug addiction right now, and this person might be someone she would get high with when she was hiding it from her family. or maybe it’s something that they’ve bonded over now and will seek each other out. 

enemies;

- she is an extremely opinionated person, and doesn’t bother to waste her energy on hiding this from people she dislikes. she also loves to hold grudges, so your character might’ve said something once that annoyed her, and she’s never let them forget it, always rolling her eyes or trying to invalidate whatever they say. - her addiction isn’t something that she necessarily hides anymore, speaking about it more openly than most people would. your character might be someone who she once considered a friend, and because they cared about her, they attempted to reason with her or try to force her to see that her lifestyle is dangerous. naturally, she’s just responded with anger and pushing your character away.  - someone who doesn’t want to put up with her attitude or cynicism. she’s hotheaded and could easily be seen as a loose canon, which is never the best in these situations. this person might try to argue with her over just about anything, or they might try to show how ill-equipped she is at handling her own emotions.

- friends with benefits. perhaps someone within elysian that they have an agreement that they’ll fuck casually whenever they want. - or, enemies with benefits. someone in olympus that she just can’t stand but there’s always some sort of current of tension between them that just leads to them falling into bed with one another, a secret that the two of them have sworn to keep quiet from anyone on their respective sides. it could be all out hatred when they’re hooking up, or maybe those moments are the few in which both of them let their guard down. - she’s completely sworn off love ever since her fiancee left her when she was at her lowest. because of this, she’s been adamant about not letting herself catch feelings for another woman along the way, but your character has potentially gotten under rosalyn’s skin in a way that’s too close for comfort, and her first instinct becomes to push them away.

you're a king and I'm a lionheart; -- Anya is powerful, but she is not a leader. Her ferocity has to be directed by someone with a vision. She won’t listen to most, but she’ll listen to you. She looks to you for guidance. Use that power however you will (Open to Any Faction (could be more than one person trying to steer her in different directions))

the greatest loss of them all; -- Anya has been known to hold a serious grudge, but she can’t bring herself to hate you. Traditionally she defaults to anger whens he’s upset, but when she thinks of you all it does is bring her sadness. Whenever she dreams of things returning to the way they used to be yours is the first face that comes to her mind. (Open to Elysian or Neutral)

but we don’t feel like outsiders at all; -- You understand what it’s like to be on the outside looking in. Being a part of Olympus gave you both a home and while Anya looks at most of the mob as her family, you hold a special place in her heart. You stumbled your way into this new life together from nothing and even as everything around you seems to fall apart you know you’ll always have each other (Open to Olympus)

{Romance} -- Anya was closeted before she joined Olympus. Once she started working for Harvey she was able to finally be herself and date women for the first time. Some of her earlier behavior was a little... messy... so there’s plenty of room for exes or unresolved tension.

let me let you go; -- Anya is the first to admit she can be a toxic person, but she’s not entirely selfish-- she wanted what is best for you. Whether she let you go because she hurt you or because Harvey told her dating you was a bad idea, she’s decided to walk away. (Open to Any Faction)

kiss with a fist is better than none; -- This isn’t love. Honestly you don’t even like each other. This is all just carnal desire. You’d just as soon punch each other’s lights out as make out. Just depends on the day. (Open to Any Faction)

i’m only a fool for you; -- You terrify Anya. She has worked so hard to create her tough facade, but you’re one of the few who has managed to see past it. You will always be “the one that got away” and she’d never admit it... but she’d be lying if she said she doesn’t still want you more than anything. Now you’re on the other side and she’s back to pretending like she doesn’t care. (Open to Elysian (could be unrequited or requited))

{Enemy} -- Anya’s quick temper has gotten her into more than a few sticky situations. She’s not everyone’s cup of tea -- in fact, she’s not most people’s cup of tea.

finders keepers losers weepers; -- Maybe she thew you under the bus? Maybe she took credit that belonged to you? Maybe it wasn’t even intentional... But Anya’s vibrado and loud personality can easily drown out some of the quieter voices in Olympus. She may have stepped on your toes and doesn’t even know you hold resentment (Open to Any Faction)

too few rounds in the ring; not enough settled scores; -- Anya sees you as a rival and in a sense that’s a compliment. She sees indifference as the greatest insult-- the fact that you’ve gotten under her skin and stuck there means something. She takes a sick sense of satisfaction in fighting with you... actually looks forward to it most of the time. (Open to Elysian)

Some outlined starter connections for Vex. Some can have multiple connections, some can be further discussed, some exist that aren’t even on this list & some can be a combination! It’s very open because I want to give space for connections based in the past and the present! 

PLATONIC

KING OF WANDS - not friends, not enemies. just someone in close quarters whom Vex feels could be doing better. someone, she might silently judge though she has no ill will towards them. should they choose to seek out solace or wisdom from her, vex wouldn’t say no. (acquaintance connection. olympus. 1/1)

FOUR OF WANDS - Vex’s parents were associated with Olympus though she’s not sure how. Even though Vex’s parents kept her at a distance from the business side of things growing up, she still recognizes most everyone from either side who’s been around for a long time. To her they are like the “cousins”, “aunts”, and “uncles” you see kinda regularly for Christmas and summer BBQs, birthdays, etc. However, as she’s gotten older and seen some people come in and out of New York’s borders she can recognize a common thread of trauma, secrets, and grief amongst her friends. And she can also recognize how they try to cover it up. She’s kinda like the cousin who is always saying “feel free to reach out if you need anything!”, just waiting for someone to pick up her offer. (cousin(s)-like OR good friends OR sibling-like connection. all alignments. 1/4)

THE STAR/QUEEN OF SWORDS - Vex has “I’m too old to deal with this shit” syndrome and she could really use a friend who pulls her out of that, maybe someone who can remind her she’s got a lot of life to live. Even if living life means making weird dark paintings and honoring the spirits who inhabit your cold bathroom. But also, she has a lot of wisdom. She is content to give people advice, whether people take the advice or not is out of her hands. Overall, she needs someone to help her have some fun!! She’s been taking care of her life and whatnot but she needs a lil trouble making. (friendship OR pupil connection. olympus or elysian. 2/2) 

THE FOOL - a drinking partner. maybe someone who gets her into trouble more than she’d like. someone who makes her trust in life and the flow of the universe for a few hours. someone who reminds her to throw caution to the wind sometimes. (drinking partner OR friend connection. all alignments. 1/2)

THE HERMIT/TEMPERANCE - are you a couch surfer in need of a couch for the night? well, guess what! I have just the couch for you! No seriously, it’s in my living room, let me make you some tea and we can talk. Are you okay? It’s really late. (new friendship OR old friendship. all alignments. 1/3)

ENEMIES

THE EMPRESS  - a conflict-filled, tense rivalry. perhaps there is no real basis to the conflict just a chaotic scene where vex and this other person do not get along. maybe due to the diverse backgrounds and belief systems they can’t find common ground on most everything. snappy comments, fake niceties, and painted smiles in passing. (old frenemy connection. olympus. 1/1)

BUSINESS

ACE OF PENTACLES - Hecate is ... pretty neutral. Though not immune to bias. Listen, I’m not saying she’s choosing sides but she’s more likely to say yes to under the table/shady business if it was coming from someone she trusted. This could be a business relationship that goes very well or could be horribly antagonistic. Friendship points vs blackmail. Both are strong contenders. (confidant OR business partner. elysian. 1/1)

meet the neutral warehouse singer, persephone / yasmin najm. loves making flower crowns and plugging her soundcloud. you can read about her here, and below the cut are some possible connections i had in mind ~

message me if you think your character might fit one of these ideas, or if you want to build off of it, or if you want to go into a completely different direction altogether. i’m totally flexible. c:

flowers for everyone — friends / acquaintances: it is very easy to befriend yasmin, just compliment her music or give her a potted plant.

yasmin was adopted by harvey when she was a baby and so she was basically raised within the gang. if your character has been around for a long time, they probably remember seeing her running around in diapers. she probably views them as family even if they don’t feel the same way.

music friends! yasmin is a singer who has traveled across north america with her little indie band so if your character is in the music scene she probably has asked them to sing with her or check out her soundcloud

yasmin has lost her birth parents and her adoptive parent so she is in desperate need of someone to fill that parental role in her life!! but she is also scared of having someone fill that role bc they’ll probably ALSO DIE

harvey was always an overprotective shit who felt the need to keep tabs on yasmin all the time. maybe ur character was one of the ppl who was tasked with watching over her and now they like, want to continue keeping her safe maybe bc they know that’s what harvey would’ve wanted, even if yasmin doesnt? or maybe they wanna be friends but don’t know how to get over the whole bodyguard/client relationship

your character is her GREATEST fan. they come to all her performances at the warehouse and follow her on soundcloud. she LOVES them.

yasmin thinks that the circumstances surrounding harvey’s death was shady and she trusts your character to help her solve the case!!

yasmin wrote a million love songs about them but they have no idea that she’s been crushing on them for so long and probably doesn’t even follow her soundcloud. the worst kind of unrequited love

yasmin has a very large green thumb while your character doesn’t give a shit about the earth dying and probably litters on purpose just to annoy her

someone who is disgusted by the fact that yasmin won’t choose sides and has that whole “you’re either with us or against us” mentality. they both think that harvey would be disappointed in the other person

someone who once pretended to be close to yasmin simply bc of her close connection to harvey but then revealed themself to be a FAKE friend and now yasmin can’t trust anything they say

SOMEONE KIDNAP PERSEPHONE!!!!!!!! she’s not that high up in the gang totem pole but maybe she heard something she shouldnt have or maybe they just want to put pressure on someone she’s close with by threatening her. or maybe they just wanna LARP their favorite greek myth who knows

(olympus) for the most part, when you graced the halls of the mount olympus hotel, eyes slid right by you as if you did not even exist. something in that grates at you, but it’s so far down underneath the emptiness that it doesn’t really matter anymore. this person’s eyes stuck on you, though – found something in you to pay attention to, or recognized at least some of your potential. they saw you, and you saw them – and you have not forgotten them. they have a neat little file in your mind, and you’ve tucked any physical information about them into your copy of to kill a mockingbird, hidden in the stacks upon stacks of your books. you may not play for their team anymore, but you will always be open to a deal for new information – and if this person came to you, you wouldn’t hesitate.

(olympus or neutral) (could be more than one person and be developed further) a deal gone bad, or someone you have a little bit too much information on – you know that they are not all that they seem to be, and you have been waiting for the right chance to potentially exploit that. you are the knife at their back, and you’ve always been intent on collateral damage. you want to know what they know, and you want to use it. it may not be smart, crossing battle lines like this, but you won’t miss an opportunity to further the cause of elysian – or yourself.

doom days. (elysian) (could be more than one person and be developed further) you’ve never known a home, but asphodel is as familiar as the walls of your apartment, and you guess that familiarity is as close as you’re going to get when it comes to this. they are a face you always see when you step through the doors, as familiar as your own, but you cast your eyes to the ground before you catch their gaze. familiarity breeds contempt. that’s wrong, isn’t it? that’s right, isn’t it? familiarity didn’t breed contempt with ares (rafaelrafaelrafael) and you do not want to break again. avoidance. it’s safest, yes? whatever.

hellfire. (elysian) smile, smile, smile – you’re a nightmare, abram, don’t you know that? they’re afraid of you, even if you’re supposed to be on their side. they don’t trust you, but that’s good on them. you aren’t to be trusted, after all. it’s almost...amusing, to be feared in this way. it tickles at the chasm in your chest, but the feeling is fleeting. rage is the strongest thing you feel, but it’s an echo of everything you’ve lost. what’s so scary, hm? they don’t answer, but you smirk, just a little bit, and resist the urge to claw at your own face.

1. ride or die. the two of you have been inseparable since the day you’ve met - as an only child, vincents never had anyone he’d call his sibling but you come very close to it. you put up with his nonsense, and he puts up with yours, and though the split has strained many relationships, it’s only brought the two of you closer. (open to all.) 

2. sorry not sorry. unfortunately in this line of work, it’s likely you’ll make more enemies than friends. vincent would say he’s done nothing wrong but the truth is, he’s screwed you over in the past and there’s been bad blood between the two of you ever since. 

3. hello, neighbor. neighbors rarely get along and this is no exception - the two of you have gotten into more than a few petty arguments over the past year or so, it’s basically become a pattern. 

4. in the same boat. even though you ran in similar circles, you only really got to know each other at narcotics anonymous. one of the things vincent does take very seriously is his sobriety and though he’s generally a pretty selfish person, he’s warmed up to you because of your shared history. 

5. fwb? ex? whatever. either way, he doesn’t do relationships because it only gets in the way of his work. he’ll probably tell you that he doesn’t have time for it and he means it, so it may be best not to expect too much of anything.
