Due to the fact that the 🇮🇹 team won the 🥉 I watched more rhythmic gymnastics and oh god their coordination and skill set is astonishing!! 😵😳😮
But they said that 26 years old is an 'old age' for the girls in this field 😒
The age here is even worse than in AG. Like Spain had a gymnast who participated in the Olympics (Rio 2016) with 30-ish years and she was very old. Spanish committee was heavily criticized for that, for not sending someone younger.
Almudena Cid managed to do 4 Olympic cycles. She went to Sydney 1996 with 16 years old and ended here carreer at Pekin 2008 with 28. That's like a lot. I remember they were calling old, but she was still fighting and doing decent results. In fact, if you take a look at her insta she's still pretty active (and flexible). She still trains and makes routins and do seminars and master classes.
Gymnast have a very short competitive live compered with other sport people, like in basketball we are seeing players ritere with 40 years old (Pau Gasol is 41 and is saying goodbye after Tokyo). They suffer a lot of injuries, they compete with sciatica, twisted limbs, sprains and so on.
You can talk to @quartararismo about this, but from some of here post, I get to know that Dina and Arina Averina are nearly broken and they have been seniors only since 2014. The twins are nearly 23 years old and they are maybe saying goodbye to RG. Then again Rusian discipline is very strict.
So yes RG is very demanding.
