The Duchess - an Eurasian collared dove took over the abandoned Robin’s nest last week, and she is now incubating. The ECD’s are invasive to the USA and reached Colorado several years ago. They are noisy, having a loud voice that isn’t particularly pleasing or musical. But in the NoCoBirds backyard, all birds are welcome, and now there is an opportunity to learn more about these creatures.

Sept 4 follow up: the nest wasn’t successful. It was predated about two weeks after this photo was taken. This tree is popular with many of our animal friends, including squirrels, blue jays, and Cooper’s hawks. Any is those could have been the predator.
