OMAAR - Drum Dance
(NAAFI)
For his new EP, OMAAR has decided to focus on rhythm. In recent dates he has been seeking to combine or coexist elements of some of the genres that he has always enjoyed: techno, house, tribal house, progressive house and trance, with others such as Afrobeat, UK Garage, UK Funky and Afrohouse. This new material is oriented to the dance floor, and contains winks at all those rhythms. «It brings a more tropical wave, but at the same time progressive. It evolves with different sounds as the tracks advance, that I wanted to do for some times. His purpose was to set people dancing while at the same time serving as an exercise in style and leaving that area where we placed him as a more aggressive, obscure music producer, wrapped in a certain mystery, introspective. "That also helped me to put myself to the test and to know how capable I can be to venture into other genres and styles, I think that helps me grow as a producer." In all the tracks of Progressive Tribes an impulse is perceived to generate a certain trance, which becomes a certain tension when those metallic, shiny percussions arrive that arrive to make the rhythms more intricate. «I made some drum rolls or metal beats with a considerable reverberation; I sought to provoke in the listener certain sensations, above all paranoia. Those nervous, tense, violent atmospheres that OMAAR tends to achieve, and which are present again in Progressive Tribes come from their constant relationship as a producer and as dj with grime. "They have that grime influence, the atmospheres and the bass line; in fact, at first some tracks of the EP were going to be UK Garage or UK Funky, but I ended up transforming them into a kind of tribal house and progressive house, with softer bass lines so that the percussions that base the tracks could take center stage. OMAAR sees in the club-oriented music both a laboratory for experimentation and a territory in which the boundaries between genres can be blurred. You can experiment opening the minds of people with new genres and styles of music. In the club there are almost no borders; the club is for dancing and having fun, that's very remarkable.
