He taught you how to play basketball and used to put you on his shoulders so you could dunk. He never misses a dance performance and you are always baking him food for when he goes on tour. I totally ship you with Gilinsky. You both love to travel and he would play basketball with you all afternoon. He would love your singing and would try and help you in the kitchen though he usually made a mess and you guys ended up laughing on the floor. Jack would do anything to make you happy and a lot of the crew call him whipped when you call on the phone or pick him up from the studio, but he doesn’t mind. Life together is a big adventure and he wouldn’t trade you for anything.

I knocked on his door anxiously. He had been touring for months and before that had been doing a press tour. As soon as I saw his big grin, my arms were around him. “SHAWN” I smiled.

“Hey Bud” he smirked, calling me by my childhood nickname as he wrapped his arms around me. “Thanks for holding down the fort while I was gone”. 

“No problem. I missed you, though.” I say pulling away. 

“I missed you a lot,” He says, his eyes twinkling as I kick my shoes off. 

“I brought you a welcome back to Canada present,” I shake a the greasy Tim Horton’s bag in my hand. 

“Hell yeah!” He beams and grabs the bag. “What movie did you want to watch?” He says, already removing a muffin from its wrapper. I shake my head as I watch him stuff his face with it. 

“I’m enjoying this show,” I say mockingly as I hop up onto the counter. 

“Fuch youb,” He says with his mouth full and you laugh. 

“Very sexy Mendes. Now I see why all those girls are after you.” He rolls his eyes and flops down on the couch. I sit in my usual spot, curled up on the other end. “Do you want to watch the new Nicholas Spark’s movie?” I smirk and look over at him. 

“Yessss,” He says laughing at himself. He was a closet fan of really romantic movies but I was the only one who knew. He finds it on Netflix and pressed play as I shook my head. 

I love watching Shawn when he isn’t paying attention. He got so into anything, a song, a movie, a good book. He was leaning forward arms pressed to his knees. I yawned, I was up late last night after soccer practice and then dance rehearsal. 

“Damn, I fell asleep”, I think to myself. I am about to sit up when I notice my legs, or rather his legs. I hear his peaceful breathing and realize we are nestled next to each other. “Did I do this in my sleep?” I ask myself internally.

“You’re going to be all lost, were you up late again last night?” Shawn says when he notices I am awake. 

“Yeah,” I say, still confused as I run a hand through my hair.  I run my eyes over our intertwined bodies. 

“Were you cold or something, Mendes? Did you blood get too thin for Canada during your tour?” I say, referring to our current arrangement. 

“No” He scoffs playfully. “You just looked kind of adorable and I wanted to hold you.” His voice trails off a little. “I always want to hold you.” 

As soon as the words leave his mouth my mind is racing. “Do I like Shawn? Is that why I miss him so much when he is on tour and felt weird hearing him questioned about his relationship status during his interviews? Damn he smells good” I realize I haven’t responded out of shock. “You want to what, Muffin boy?” I smirk and flip around in his arms, now facing him. 

He leans in and all I smell is pine, mint, and dirt. “I want to hold you every second, Bud.” My breath hitches and his lips, the same ones that have laughed at me since we because friends and frowned every time they had to go to L.A.and leave me behind, press against my forehead. I giggle a little, shocked that I can produce the sound. My arms wrap around his neck. 

“You missed,” I say before pulling him in for a real kiss. 

“It’s good to be home,” Shawn says blushing, snuggling back up against me.
