Ok either I tagged wrong or I didn't post this art, it could be either one knowing me (I reblog so much that adding "notmyart" is like autopilot)
Anyways some formline from a little bit ago! More raven with the sun imagery (my favorite!)
Still sorta relearning how to illustrate raven- my style has definitely changed after not touching formline for years, especially given I learned it in childhood yearss ago
Anyways ya! I hope yall enjoy da raven content
Art from last night that I thought yall might like, I wanted another piece that was more personalized to myself with the label 'all my relations' or 'my grandfathers'. It's intended to read as the life of my niitsitapi people being held up by thunder, and in the reflection of thunder's wings is the ecosystem, all other life, that we are connected, one cannot exist without the other, we need one another. You might notice that thunder has some features of more coastal design than plains, and that's relating to more specifically me, how coastal people raised me and helped uplift me to be more myself, to identify with my people, I would not have been offered that same experience had I been surrounded by naapikoanaiksi (the whiteys). Pictured are all animals that have guided me in some way, animals I have learned from, often through my family. To me, iiníí (bison) represents my people, kiáayo (bear) represents our medicine, eagle and wolf represent the balance between sharing culture and preserving it, and thunder and raven hold a complex relationship between the coastal and plains cultures I grew up with. I have something to learn from each of these, and I have a long way to go since moving away from my birthplace, this is my story, these are my people, and this is our life!
You are all free and encouraged to ask questions, I am happy to share about my art.
