Cringe 😬
Omake 1
Since I occasionally run across funny sentences or interesting grammar points that are too early to put into a lesson, I’ve decided to include short ‘omake’ or extras!
I came across this sentence: ぼーっとしていて、昨日財布をどこかに落としてしまったんです。
which some of my American friends translated as (using Google): “I was drowning, and dropped my wallet somewhere yesterday.”
I was drowning, and dropped my wallet somewhere yesterday. (-_-;)・・・
It actually means: “I was being absent minded, and unfortunately dropped my wallet somewhere yesterday.” Which somehow still sounds like Dazai-san (¬_¬;)
How google comes up with ‘drowning’, I have no idea! ヽ(ˇヘˇ)ノ
Anyway, rapid sentence breakdown:
ぼーっとする botto suru: to do nothing worthwhile; to abstractedly/dazedly/dreamily do something, aka to be absent minded ~ていた: ~teita: was doing X ~て: te form: sentence/verb connector ぼーっとしていて: botto shiteite: was being absent minded 昨日: きのう:kinou: yesterday 財布: さいふ:saifu: wallet を: o particle: marks a direct object (the thing you do an action on) どこか: dokoka: somewhere に: ni particle: marks direction/location 落とす: おとす:otosu: to drop 落として: おとして:te form of otosu ~てしまう: ~teshimau: ‘unfortunately does X/ X unfortunately happens’ ~てしまった: ~teshimatta: past tense: unfortunately did X ~んです:~ ndesu: ‘n’ added to plain forms, gives a bit of emotion or empathy, and followed by da or desu
Merry cringemas!! (Christmas)🎄🎄🎄🎅🎅🤶🤶 and happy holidays ♥
AND NOW FOR SOMETHING... different, I dunno.
So in the middle of 6 and 7 I get an omake? Sure
Interesting words from Miki Bukimi (the mangaka right?) SHY first is generally a history about self hatred... okay can we stop for a second and everyone that relates to the story give themselves a hug? is that okay?
... *hugs self* okay moving on
Miss Miki is the sorting hat? I dig it
Simple explanation of the bracelets to transform and nice tangentially related trivia... I think I love to swing a very lame replica of the sword of Thundera when I was little...
Teru is 14, likes horror movies (huh...) and yes Miss Miki, she is a character one can’t help but cheer for.
Then description of Iko... nothing to stand out beyond also being good in gymnastics (and NO SHIT we want her to find happiness after all we saw)
Okay there is a legit Omake, for a sec I thought we were getting only descriptions of characters
Iko asking the important questions I see
Iko has become Tomoyo Daidouji... AND IM HERE FOR THIS LETS GO!!!!
Okay nice bit and all but now I’m remebering (vaguely) one of the many messed up moment in Sailor Moon where the bad guy hits Usagi RIGHT at the end of her transformation, leaving her mostly naked and unconsious on the floor... My mind went places it doesnt want to return so please try to not tell what exactly happened that time
okay apparently that WAS the only omake but there’s also an illustration and a heartwarming afterword by Miss Miki... me likes :)
Fairy Tail Manga Omake 1 - Happys Little Job
Eating Together, Drinking Alone Omake
So, we’re about 1/3 of the way through, and I decided to write an omake (bonus chapter). I just love omake. Also, I’m not feeling too well, so this gives me a break. I shall return with chapter 11 next week!
Omake: Shogayu
Something was definitely strange, Kenshin thought as he draped a blanket over the clothesline. Shishou spent his time at the Akabeko, leaving after breakfast and returning late at night. If it weren’t for Yahiko letting him know, he would have assumed his master was lying drunk in a ditch.
“He’s been helping out, doing whatever Tae says.” Yahiko had scratched his head over this. “He’s not even getting paid!” He wasn’t paid in alcohol either, given that he didn’t reek of it when he eventually returned.
Kenshin sighed as he smoothed a shirt’s crease. While it was true that Shishou did whatever he liked, it wasn’t easy to motivate him. So, if it wasn’t money or sake, what was it? Tae-dono would know…or, was it Tae-dono herself that drew his master to the restaurant?
