Marmoush Double Sends Man City Past Newcastle into Carabao Cup Final

The Egyptian forward was the star of the night, scoring twice to put Pep Guardiola’s side firmly in control. Marmoush admitted he was thrilled to help City reach the final, conceding that his first goal came with a slice of luck, but insisted it was the result of good build-up play and intelligent positioning.
“I was even hoping for a hat-trick, but two goals were enough to give the team confidence and secure the win,” Marmoush told Sky Sports.
He also praised the team’s mentality, highlighting their intensity from the first minute, and set his sights on lifting his first trophy with the club in the final against Arsenal on March 22 at Wembley Stadium.
“This is one of the biggest clubs in the world. We are here to win trophies, and we work hard every single day for that goal,” Marmoush added.
Manchester City have previously won the League Cup eight times from nine final appearances, while Arsenal have lifted the trophy twice from eight finals. This year’s showdown carries extra significance, with both sides chasing their first piece of silverware of the season.
